JOB TITLE: Lift Maintenance Manager

DIVISION: Mountain Operations

REPORTS TO: Resort Maintenance Manager

LOCATION: Maintenance Shop/Resort Wide

CLASSIFICATION: Full-Time / Year-Round/ Salary

POSITION:

Maintenance of Solitude ski lifts. Scheduling, training, and assigning technicians to ensure lifts operate safely and providing emergency repairs as needed. Ensure that maintenance programs are adequate and meet the operational demands.

SPECIFIC JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • Minimum of 5 years lift maintenance experience
  • Demonstrate proficiency in all electrical and mechanical skill level areas
  • Ski area operations experience
  • Positive administrative attitude i.e. records and costs
  • Ability to interact with a multitude of personalities and demands
  • Must be able to work safely within close quarters of machinery, at heights and in confined spaces
  • Must be physically capable of negotiating steps, ladders or other obstacles and work at heights in any weather conditions
  • Must be able to install/maneuver equipment, parts and materials in and around lift areas
  • A valid driver's license is required, along with an acceptable (insurable) driving record
  • Will be required to lift, maneuver, position, remove and install heavy items. Must be physically capable of performing these tasks with assistance or alone. Mechanical devices are available to assist but may not be usable or available for use in all situations.
  • Must be able to access various components located on any portion of a piece of equipment, on top, bottom, inside, behind
  • Must be able to travel through snow to reach a building or piece of equipment with tools, and materials necessary to complete the job


JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Plan and schedule work of lift maintenance department, staffing for adequate maintenance coverage
  • Supervision of Lift Maintenance personnel and management of their needs, expectations, and discipline
  • Determine cause of equipment breakdowns and supervise repairs
  • Ensure that prescribed preventative maintenance schedules are followed
  • Maintain records of maintenance and inspection of all lifts
  • Maintain adequate parts inventory
  • Maintain repair shop/tool inventory
  • Ensure that maintenance shop area and equipment are maintained in clean, safe, orderly state
  • Inspect and report practices or operations in the Mountain Operations departments which are detrimental to efficient and safe performance
  • Develop and implement operational policies
    • Participate in planning and organizing for future improvements and expansion
    • Participate in new lift construction
    • Ensure compliance with the applicable regulations of appropriate outside agencies
    • Ensure guest satisfaction
    • Train lift technicians and maintain records to reflect same
    • Safety training and maintain records to reflect same
    • Assist in the training of lift operators
    • Prepare and meet budgetary guidelines


Management Responsibilities:
  • Oversees the operations of both front and back of house based on seasonal needs
  • Trains employees in proper tool safety and other duties as well as documentation to support those trainings
  • Manages team member performance and expectations
  • Schedules and assigns work
  • Coaches and mentors team member on training and development items
  • Actively participates in the hiring process and manages labor and schedules
  • Approves timecards
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align efforts and maximize efficiency
  • Serve as a role model for professionalism, integrity, and ethical behavior


ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

The resort operates seven days a week. Work schedules will include weekends, on call, holidays and night shifts. Must be able to speak and understand English. Must be able to read and write English.

Individual will provide their own hand tools (including all tools that are necessary to perform at the level for which they are hired.) Employee must be willing to work various shifts and weather conditions.
