The Quality Systems Assistant follows instructions, guidelines, and documentation to support the Quality Systems Manager in daily operations. This role helps ensure that products and procedures meet the company's quality standards and regulatory requirements. The assistant conducts regular inspections and assessments, reviews documentation, and coordinates with key staff and the QSM. They are also legally responsible for adhering to Food Safety guidelines, Good Manufacturing Practices, and performing quality checks to ensure a safe, high-quality product is delivered to customers. In this role, you will: * Assist in organizing and preparing for facility audits. Will be fully involved with any audit. * Product quality evaluations including daily product scoring and moisture analysis. * Perform daily metal detection verifications and ensure compliance. * Perform monthly thermometer and scale verifications. * Participate in FS and Quality floor inspections when the QSM is unavailable. * Implement and enforce GMP's and proper Food Safety practices. * Assist with facilitating employee refresher training on an as-needed basis. * Assist with the retrieval of sample requests. * Submit finished product and ingredient samples to outside lab for micro testing. * Retention and organization of pertinent documentation. * Daily floor presence and product quality inspections to include documentation. * Other related duties as assigned by department head. Requirements * Experience in the baked goods industry is advantageous. * Proficiency in using general office equipment, including computers and relevant software applications. * Proficiency in interpreting and enforcing Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), sanitation procedures, product recall protocols, and food safety standards. * Familiarity with statistical methods and tools for quality control. * Ability to conduct product testing using relevant equipment. * Strong written and verbal communication skills. * Flexibility to work various shifts as required. Essential Physical Requirements: * Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, and push and pull heavy wheeled equipment or carts in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, with or without reasonable accommodation. * Ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time during a shift, maintaining a normal range of motion in all extremities. * Ability to reach, bend, stoop, and crouch to access equipment, tools, or materials. * Ability to use arms, hands and fingers to handle or operate machinery, tools or controls. * Ability to perceive and respond immediately to visual and audible safety alerts and warnings to ensure the safety of self and others in a fast-paced, hazard-sensitive environment with or without reasonable accommodation. * Ability to work in environments with varying temperatures, noise levels, and airborne particles, odors and fumes. * Ability to climb stairs, ladders, or work platforms as required by the position. * Ability to sit for prolonged periods using office equipment and computer systems. * Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and protective clothing for extended periods of time, with or without reasonable accommodation.
