The Opportunity: Software Engineer - Payment Fraud Disruption

We're looking for collaborative, creative, and impact-driven engineers to join our Ecosystem & Operational Risk group, specifically the Payment Fraud Disruption team. This team builds innovative fraud detection and prevention solutions to protect Visa and its customers across the global payment ecosystem.

You'll design and develop robust, scalable systems that address complex real-world fraud challenges, help reduce financial risk, and ensure secure, seamless payment experiences. You'll work on everything from distributed systems and APIs to cloud-native platforms-while leveraging modern technologies like Generative AI to innovate and accelerate software delivery.

  • Build and maintain fraud detection platforms that operate at massive scale.
  • Design and code secure, high-performing software solutions using modern full-stack technologies (e.g., Java, Spring Boot, Angular, Kafka).
  • Collaborate across product, engineering, and risk teams to turn business needs into impactful solutions.
  • Drive product quality and contribute to the security, resilience, and scalability of Visa's infrastructure.
  • Apply CI/CD best practices, automated testing, and real-time monitoring to ensure high availability and reliability.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with 6 months of experienceor 3+ years of relevant work experience in software development.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in software engineering roles.
  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Strong programming skills inJava,Spring Boot, and front-end technologies likeAngular andJavaScript.
  • Experience withfull-stack development, including working withMySQL,RESTful APIs,Kafka, andCassandra.
  • Familiarity withagile methodologies,CI/CD tools (e.g., Git, Maven, Jenkins, GitHub), andtest automation frameworks.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Passion for deliveringhigh-quality, secure, and scalable code with a focus on performance and reliability.
  • Experience in thepayments, fintech, or fraud/risk domain is a plus.
  • Comfortable working in fast-paced, collaborative environments and eager to continuously learn and improve.
Additional Information

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 84,600.00 to 119,650.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity. Visa has a comprehensive benefits package for which this position may be eligible that includes Medical, Dental, Vision, 401 (k), FSA/HSA, Life Insurance, Paid Time Off, and Wellness Program.
