The Family Partnership was founded in 1878 as the Minneapolis Humane Society to protect and serve children that were being abused or exploited. Wages and Benefits

$24.00 - $25.00 per hour; $1,000 hiring bonus after 3 months of employment; Generous paid time off, plus 10 paid holidays; competitive health, dental, and vision insurance; health savings account (HSA), and options for flexible spending accounts (FSA). There is employer paid basic life insurance with the option for additional coverage paid by the employee. The employer pays for Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) and short and long-term disability insurance. TFP sponsors a retirement plan with a tiered vesting schedule based on years of service, plus a 2% employer contribution after one year of service.

SCHEDULE

This is a hybrid position that requires driving to families' homes and sometimes providing transportation to families.

A Typical Day in the Life...

HFA is an evidence-based practice that uses a strength-based approach when providing intensive parenting education and support. HFA focuses on infant mental health and parent-child relationships. A typical day as The Family Partnership's HFA Family Support Specialist provides an opportunity to assist families with overcoming challenges, setting goals, and striving toward positive changes to prevent child abuse and neglect. The Family Support Specialist will intervene in crises; provide weekly visits, advocate for services to families at risk of or engaged in children protection. Responsibilities will include the following:



  • Maintaining a caseload of families.
  • Delivering weekly home-visiting services to high-risk families, pregnant mothers, or mothers with an infant under the age of 24 months.
  • Advocating for services to families at risk of or engaged in child protection.
  • Initiating and maintaining regular, long-term (up to five years) contact and support with families.
  • Providing family-centered and strength-based parenting education and services to families.
  • Assisting families in establishing goals and celebrating goal progress, goal completion, tier level changes, program services, and program completion.
  • Scheduling and conducting a minimum of 1-2 presentations per quarter to initiate and strengthen referral relationships.
  • Acting as a liaison to referral partners assigned by the Program Director, including connecting with referral sources on a monthly basis or as needed to coordinate presentations, deliver program materials, and inquire about new referrals.
  • Sharing referral updates with the Program Director at scheduled one-on-one meetings.



Who You Are



  • You have a minimum of an associate's degree in human services, social work, education, or a related field.
  • You have a minimum of two years of directly related work experience.
  • You have previous experience working with families in homes and/or community settings.
  • You have previous experience working with and demonstrate an understanding of communities living in poverty, communities of color, gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender individuals, and other vulnerable populations.
  • You possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • You are highly attentive to detail and have knowledge of data entry.
  • You have the ability to develop and maintain positive and respectful relationships with clients.
  • You have the ability to track and maintain data necessary for program monitoring and evaluation.
  • You have the ability to perform assessments needed in order to conduct appropriate interventions and referrals.
  • You have the ability to provide home visiting services, including traveling to clients' homes, schools, meetings with community partners, and various other locations. You are also willing to transport clients in your own vehicle.
  • You have a valid driver's license, access to reliable transportation, and the ability to meet TFP's driving record requirements. Please note that if the license was not issued in the state of Minnesota, you have 60 days after becoming a Minnesota resident in which to apply for your Minnesota driver's license or permit (not applicable for new hires living out of state).
