This position offers additional compensation in the form of discretionary short-term incentives (i.e., bonus, incentives, and/or commission). Business Services Risk Officer

The Business Services Risk Officer is responsible for identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks within the Small Business Services and Treasury Services departments, with a primary focus on Treasury Services. This role involves conducting risk reviews, developing risk management strategies, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements to protect the financial health of the organization and bank's clients.


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


Risk Assessment & Management:


  • Conduct timely, structured and comprehensive risk assessments (across all products) for Small Business Services and Treasury Services clients, identifying potential risks and vulnerabilities.
  • Develop, recommend and implement risk management strategies to mitigate identified risks, in line with management guidance and parameters.
  • Monitor and analyze economic/industry trends and market conditions that could affect risk levels, and make appropriate recommendations to management.
  • Review and update risk management policies and protocols regularly.
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards related to risk management.


Risk Reporting:


  • Prepare detailed risk reports for management and stakeholders, outlining the risk associated with specific transactions, strategies, and financial products.
  • Provide regular updates on the effectiveness of risk management practices.
  • Collaborate regularly with management to understand business objectives and identify potential risks.
  • Develop meaningful business intelligence dashboards to inform decision-making and facilitate risk monitoring.


Project Management & Implementation:


  • Lead Treasury and Small Business risk-related projects, developing plans, monitoring performance, and ensuring timely completion.
  • Act as a liaison for risk between the Treasury and Small Business teams, and other departments, proactively identifying and communicating issues.
  • Proactively work with management to develop and implement operational changes identified during risk assessments and reviews.
  • Coordinate with department leadership to ensure materials are appropriately updated to reflect risk management practices.


Treasury Management Implementations and M&A:


  • Serve as backup for the TM Setups team.
  • Remain knowledgeable in all areas of money movement (receivables and payables) to ensure a deep understanding of products and services you are supporting.
  • Assist with bank acquisitions and system conversions, ensuring integrity of risk mitigation systems and recommendations to further enhance processes.



Qualifications:

Education/Experience:


  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred, or equivalent relevant work experience.
  • 4+ years of experience within a financial institution, with a focus on risk management.
  • Previous experience in treasury management, risk analysis or platform management strongly preferred.


Skills:


  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient customer service skills; able to take client interactions to the next level.
  • High level of computer skills, including proficiency in risk assessment tools and financial forecasting models.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively to build positive, productive relationships with all levels of employees.
  • High level of interpersonal communication skills; ability to effectively interact with individuals in all areas of the bank, customers, and vendors in a professional manner.
  • Ability to work with detailed information in an accurate, timely, and confidential manner.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Sound judgment and decision-making abilities; willing to challenge the status quo in a meaningful way.
  • Ability to critically think through situations and see roadblocks/potential misalignment before it becomes a real-world situation.
