Faculty Position in Cell Biology

The Department of Cell Biology at the University of Oklahoma Health Science (OUHSC) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in any area of cell biology. Applicants will be considered at the associate or professor stage of their career. Areas of particular interest include neuroscience, in particular focus on cellular and molecular mechanisms, and developmental biology but all areas of cell biology will be considered. The successful candidates are expected to maintain independent and dynamic extramurally funded research programs.

The Department of Cell Biology is one of five basic science departments within the College of Medicine at OUHSC, providing a highly interactive cohort of scientists with interests in neuroscience, cilia, cell signaling, vision, cardiovascular biology and cancer. The department houses a state-of-the-art imaging center which includes two super-resolution microscopes that are capable of 3D-SIM, STORM and optical reassignment based live-cell super-resolution imaging, two-photon and confocal microscopy, as well as long-duration live cell epifluorescence imaging and a full-service histology core. For further information about the department go to https://basicsciences.ouhsc.edu/cb/. Faculty members in the Cell Biology Department have the opportunity to mentor competitive graduate students through a variety of doctoral programs offered on the OUHSC campus, including Cell Biology and Neuroscience.

OUHSC is a comprehensive health center that includes Colleges of Pharmacy, Dentistry, Nursing, Allied Health, Public Health, Medicine, and the Graduate College. It is home to two hospitals and an NCI-designated Cancer Center. OUHSC Core Facilities include the state-of-the-art Laboratory for Molecular Biology and Cytometry Research, which provides services specializing in genomics, proteomics, bioinformatics, cytometry, and imaging. The Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation (OMRF) is adjacent to OUHSC and maintains a collaborative partnership with OUHSC. Scientists at OMRF are also a source of collaborators for studies in this field. OMRF core facilities are available to OUHSC investigators.

OUHSC is located in downtown Oklahoma City, the country's 20th largest city. The greater Oklahoma City area has a rich cultural base with modern, vibrant business and entertainment districts. The cost of living is enviably low relative to other university communities across the country.

Successful applicants will receive a competitive salary, generous, multi-year start-up package, and be assigned newly renovated laboratory space.

Job requirements include evidence of an established outstanding federally funded research program and a PhD, MD or equivalent. Candidates should submit a curriculum vitae, a description of current research interests and future research plans as one pdf file. Letters of recommendation will be requested at a later stage. Please address the application to Dr. Shannon Conley, Chair of the Cell Biology Search Committee and send the application packet to Ginnia Smith at Ginnia-Smith@ouhsc.edu
