Coordinator for Early College Services

This position is an on-campus, full-time, 12-month appointment based in Champaign, Illinois covered by the Professional Support Staff (PSS) Union with an annual salary of $52,436.80.

The Coordinator of Early College Services is responsible for coordinating strategic enrollment opportunities for high school students who wish to pursue Parkland coursework while in high school. This position collaborates with Academic Services and Parkland College District 505 high schools to ensure that our district's residents have access to early college opportunities. The Coordinator of Early College Services engages in retention effort strategies to encourage degree-seeking enrollment of Early College participants, after they graduate from high school.

Essential Job Functions:

  • In coordination with the Faculty Director of Early College, develop the instruction plan and offerings for dual credit courses with high schools within the Parkland College 505 district.
  • Design an enrollment strategy for high school students wanting to pursue Early College opportunities .
  • Work with the Faculty Director of Early College, Academic Advising, and other college departments and staff to promote and maintain an exceptional dual credit program.
  • Serve as a liaison between high school counselors and Parkland College faculty and staff.
  • Represent Parkland College at high-level meetings and events related to Early College matters.
  • Collaborate with the Associate Director of Admissions and Records to create a recruitment and communication plan for Early College students.
  • Leverage the existing CRM for communication and business process efficiencies .
  • Function as an Early College subject matter expert in enrollment related matters.
  • Assist in the cross-training of admission staff.
  • Identify and resolve operational matters to improve the Early College enrollment process.
  • Create a retention strategy for students who participated in the Early College program and are graduating from high school to ensure their continued enrollment at Parkland College.
  • Develop and maintain Early College Services handbook, policy and procedures manual and webpage .
  • Aid in the solicitation, development, and implementation of grants related to early college programming .
  • Provide documentation throughout the fall and spring semesters of enrollment trends of the program.
  • Assist in the coordination, implementation, and delivery of materials for conferences, training sessions and meetings to support dual credit and college readiness.
  • Facilitate the process in gathering data on the dual credit billing process, involving communication with both the Business office and partner schools once a semester for fall and spring.
  • Coordinate dual credit activities with the Education for Employment #330.
  • Effectively manage multiple projects, set priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently as well as collaboratively.
  • Must be available for travel.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree OR five (5) years of related work experience, OR an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to independently and collaboratively research, develop and implement plans.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office or 360 and the ability to learn the Parkland information system, including new computer programs as technology changes.
  • Successfully complete a criminal background check with fingerprinting.
  • In an effort to comply with SURS return-to-work restrictions for employers (40 ILCS 5/15-139.5), candidates for employment at Parkland College must either not be a SURS annuitant or must be willing to suspend his/her SURS annuity upon employment. This applies to all SURS annuitants except those receiving their annuity under either the Self-Managed Plan (SMP) or by lump sum payment.
