As a Project Manager/Industrial Estimator, you will collaborate closely with the project management team and field leaders to develop project proposals. Responsibilities include conducting risk assessments, estimating costs, preparing and submitting proposals and scopes of work for approval, and determining necessary subcontracted services, equipment, and materials. You will perform cost analysis for labor and manage the estimate-to-execution handoff. Additionally, you'll follow the project from implementation through to the final punch list, assist in monitoring and reconciling expenses, recommend cost-saving measures, and gather historical data upon project completion.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:



  • Follow established policies and procedures related to the proposal process, including estimating and proposal preparation. Ensure proposals are completed in a timely manner and align with project objectives and budget targets.
  • Comply with the centralized cost estimating database and adhere to formal standard operating procedures to support cost estimating, ensuring historical data is effectively utilized.
  • Prepare cost estimates for large, complex, multi-disciplinary projects at various design stages-from conceptual and budgetary to detailed take-off and pricing. Coordinate and lead project meetings, review schedules, and fully understand agreements and scopes of work.
  • Collect and analyze project data and documentation, including equipment drawings, schedules, submittals, material lists, specifications, and other related materials.
  • Support project management throughout all phases of the project.
  • Collaborate with the preconstruction team and Industrial leadership to identify opportunities for efficiency, cost savings, and customer value enhancements.
  • Analyze collected data and metrics to determine project requirements. Prepare and present complex proposals to project management for approval.
  • Manage incoming and outgoing drawings and maintain appropriate logs for assigned construction projects until handoff to the execution team.
  • Negotiate construction pricing with service providers, vendors, and subcontractors to develop competitive proposals. Obtain multiple quotes and evaluate offers to select the most suitable options.
  • Conduct economic feasibility studies on changes and adjustments to cost estimates. Perform risk assessments to account for potential deviations from the project plan and resolve cost discrepancies as needed.
  • Work with Industrial leadership to investigate and recommend opportunities for efficiency improvements, cost savings, and customer value enhancements.
  • Foster an environment of open communication, collaboration, and mutual respect. Support team meetings, consistent communication, reporting, and feedback within your team and with leadership. Communicate effectively with architects, engineers, clients, contractors, and subcontractors.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.


Required Education & Experience:



  • Must meet at least one of the following minimum qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field, OR
    • Two-year degree in Mechanical or CAD Drafting, OR
    • 5 years or more of industrial construction experience


  • 3 years or more of estimating experience with a thorough understanding of industrial mechanical systems, equipment, drawings, specifications, and techniques is required.
  • Previous project management experience is strongly preferred.


Other Details:



  • This position will report regularly in person to Bismarck, ND.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Must possess strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects and consistently meet deadlines.
  • Must be proficient in MS Office Suite and other related estimating software.

Compensation & Benefits:



  • The expected annual compensation range for this position is $68,000-$101,000. Compensation offered to the selected candidate will vary depending on relevant knowledge, skills, training, experience, and market conditions.
