Project Management Framework, Standards and Governance



  • Contributing to the development of standardized project management methodologies and framework, including definition of project roles and responsibilities (RACI), the use of tools and technology and the creation of project templates to facilitate efficient and streamlined project management practices.
  • Supporting centralized project status, documentation, and archive facilities.
  • Utilizing established quality criteria, standards, and metrics to measure and evaluate the quality of project deliverables and processes to monitor and improve project performance and outcomes.
  • Staying up to date on emerging trends and best practices in project management and related areas; applying knowledge to continuously improve EPM's processes and methodologies.
  • Providing supplemental training to IT department staff and other firm departments as needed.
  • Fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation within the EPM and across the organization; fostering an environment of continuous improvement.
  • Understanding the role's responsibilities regarding security governance and compliance. Ensuring a clear understanding of data governance, risk, and security; supporting an information security culture, including compliance with ISO27001.


Project Leadership



  • Providing project management leadership throughout the entire lifecycle of assigned projects, leveraging project management expertise to provide guidance and support to internal project teams.
  • Defining project scope, goals, and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with senior EPM staff, senior management, and stakeholders.
  • Establishing clear stakeholder communication plans for all phases of the project life cycle, beginning with the project kickoff through the post-mortem. Communications include definition of roles, responsibilities and ownership using the RACI model, risk analysis, issue management and escalations, and weekly project status reports.
  • Estimating the resources and participants needed to achieve project goals. Working with senior EPM staff to resolve resource constraints.
  • Developing full-scale project plans and associated communications documents. Planning, scheduling and tracking project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools.
  • In conjunction with project owner, effectively communicating project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion.
  • In consultation with senior EPM staff, proactively managing change(s) in project scope, identifying potential risks, and devising contingency plans.
  • Monitoring project performance, identifying risks, vulnerabilities, and issues. Reporting on project status to supervisor and key stakeholders.
  • Functioning as a resource to the project team in areas of escalation & support, critical path management.
  • Ensuring that all projects are delivered on-time and meet or exceed defined quality standards.
  • Building, developing, and growing any business relationships vital to the success of the project; Engaging with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to define project scope, goals, and deliverables, fostering a collaborative environment.
  • Conducting project postmortems and creating a recommendations report to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements.
  • Ensuring the project team adheres to all PMO standards, processes, capabilities, and best practices.


The successful candidate will demonstrate...



  • Bachelor's degree in technology, System Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience
  • Applicable technical certification(s) are preferred (e.g. PMP, CSM, PMI-ACP)
  • Minimum of four years of experience in technical project management including experience successfully managing multiple technology projects.
  • Demonstrated experience with project management tools and solutions (e.g., Hive, Smartsheet, MS Project, ServiceNow SPM).
  • Knowledge of information technology infrastructure and systems required.
  • Understanding of project management methodologies, tools, and processes.
  • Knowledge of resource management and change management techniques.
  • Experience supporting continuous improvement in project management practices.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to make persuasive arguments to move toward a common vision or goal.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze data and make data-driven decisions.


Pay Range for Candidates in Baltimore, MD: $115,000 - $130,000 per year

The range provided is the minimum and maximum salary that Venable in good faith believes at the time of this posting that it is willing to pay for the advertised position. Exact compensation will be determined based on individual candidate qualifications and location.
