We are currently seeking a Chemistry Lab Analyst at our Natrona Heights Operations. A qualified candidate will be able to use the latest in analytical chemistry instrumentation and procedures, proved analytical quantitative and qualitative analyses on samples - such as metals, raw materials, slags, etc.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Provides analytical chemistry services in an accurate and effective manner by:

    • Preparing materials/specimens for chemical analysis using available laboratory equipment such a milling machines, saws, cut off wheels, grinders, sheers, etc.
    • Preforming analysis on production and raw materials using various instrumentation and methods, including X-Ray Fluorescence, Optical Emission Spectroscopy, Combustion and Infra-Red Spectroscopy, and Thermal Conductivity.
    • Assisting in modification and refinement of existing analytical practices to improve laboratory performance.
    • Reporting results and maintaining accurate records by documenting test results.
    • Perform routine maintenance on all necessary equipment.
    • Maintaining good housekeeping by keeping work areas clean, orderly and free of safety hazards, and by taking care of tools and equipment.
    • Adhering to company safety policies by attending mandatory safety meetings, developing work safe habits and by providing for a safer workplace.
    • Reading, reviewing, and implementing Quality Systems documentation, while maintaining accuracy.



Requirements:



  • Associates Degree in chemistry


OR



  • Equivalent experience in technical, chemical, or laboratory environment.


Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:



  • Computer proficiency and working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Proven Chemical, Laboratory, and instrumentation abilities.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment and to independently solve problems related to project assignments with metals, materials, etc.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbal and written to all levels of internal and external customers.
  • Ability to analyze and report on data.
  • Ability to work independently with excellent organization skills.
