Job Title: NAQ-1 Lead Auditor (Nuclear Quality Assurance)

Locations: Lynchburg, VA; Mansfield, MA, or Remote

Your Opportunity

As a Lead Auditor in Lynchburg, VA (remote work will also be considered), you will be part of the proven team in the Instrumentation & Controls Business Unit. Under general supervision, this position is responsible for performing quality surveillances and auditing supplier and project processes and activities to ensure that appropriate controls have been defined and implemented to meet customer, regulatory and quality program requirements. Incumbents demonstrate expertise in a variety of concepts, practices and procedures and rely on extensive experience and judgment to accomplish goals. Your work will include:



  • Plans, schedules and conducts independent audits and surveillance of materials and products.
  • Reviews documents, prepares checklists, conducts assessment interviews and prepares Audit, Survey, and Surveillance reports.
  • Ensures and documents that corrective actions are taken based on report findings.
  • Perform on-site observations, interview personnel, and lead audit teams
  • Document findings and compile detailed audit reports, including root cause analysis and corrective action recommendations
  • Track and verify implementation of corrective actions (CAPAs) and their effectiveness
  • Manage QA documentation control systems and maintain QA records in compliance with NQA-1
  • Train staff on QA policies, audit protocols, and NQA-1 standards
  • Maintains knowledge and understanding of NRC or other pertinent regulations and industry codes and standards.
  • Coordinates with Framatome Inc. Supplier Quality Management and is the primary contact for I&C Business Unit Suppliers and ASL maintenance.
  • Routinely interfaces with Suppliers, both internal and external to Framatome.
  • Uses additional skills and experience with Operational Excellence

    • Quality & Continuous Improvement (A3 Problem Solving, Gemba Walk, 8D Event Resolution)
    • FMEA participation

What You've Accomplished



  • Completion of a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Assurance, a related technical discipline, or comparable experience in lieu of degree
  • At least 4 years of nuclear quality assurance experience
  • Proven knowledge of related engineering and quality assurance standards, techniques, and criteria
  • Good verbal and written communication skills and the ability to comprehend and convey technical data
  • Ability to develop and maintain good interpersonal relationships with all levels of staff and management
  • Good problem identification and resolution skills
  • Good organizational skills

Required Qualifications:



  • Lead Auditor qualifications per ASME NAQ-1 or equivalent certifications
  • Proven experience in nuclear quality assurance, including oversight of NQA-1 compliant programs or audit engagements
  • Deep understanding of ASME NAQ-1 standards alongside 10 CFR 50 Appendix B and 10 CFR Part 21
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for audit reporting and stakeholder engagement
  • Experience in conducting root cause analysis and managing CAPAs


Preferred Qualifications:



  • At least 5 years of QA/QC experience in the nuclear sector with extensive involvement in NQA-1 programs
  • Additional certifications such as ASQ Certiofied Quality Auditor (CQA), Lead Auditor for ISO 9001, or Six Sigma
  • Prior exposure to commercial-grade dedication, material traceability, or specialized nuclear QA processes
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 and other quality management systems
  • Quality Surveillances and Commercial Grade Surveys



Your Total Rewards Package

The range of base salary for the position is between $83,000 - $124,000, and may also include annual incentives, performance bonuses and benefits. Please note that the base salary range is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies and work location.
