Compensation At S&C, we are dedicated to providing competitive and equitable compensation for all our team members, and we are committed to transparency in our pay practices. The estimated annual base salary range for this position in the United States is $85,580-$113,451.80. Individual pay within this salary range is determined by several compensable factors, including performance, knowledge, job-related skills and experience, and relevant education or training. This role is also eligible for S&C's annual incentive plan (AIP), subject to eligibility criteria. Join Our Team as a Design Quality Engineer II! The Design Quality Engineer II plays a foundational role in ensuring quality standards are integrated into the product design process. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, this role focuses on applying quality tools, supporting design reviews, and contributing to continuous improvement efforts to enhance product reliability and customer satisfaction. Key Responsibilities:
Design Quality Support: Participate in design reviews, applying quality tools and methods to ensure compliance with standards and minimize risks. Problem Identification & Resolution: Assist in identifying potential design issues and work collaboratively to implement corrective actions. Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) Reduction: Support the identification and analysis of cost-of-poor-quality issues in design projects, working under the guidance of senior engineers to implement preventative measures and contribute to continuous improvement efforts within a limited scope. Critical-to-Quality (CTQ) Feature: Assist in defining and documenting critical-to-quality (CTQ) features under the direction of senior engineers, supporting the implementation of control mechanisms to ensure CTQ integrity within a specific project or task. Quality Data Analysis: Review and interpret quality data to identify trends and provide actionable feedback to design teams. Process Improvement Participation: Contribute to ongoing quality improvement initiatives by supporting APQP and mistake[1]proofing activities. Quality Support & Collaboration: Provide quality support for product engineering teams, working closely with product engineering and product teams to address quality-related issues and drive continuous improvements. Support the resolution of complex quality issues, utilizing advanced problem-solving tools to identify root causes and implement effective preventative measures. Metrics & Feedback Utilization: Utilize quality feedback and metrics to identify opportunities for design and process improvements, sharing insights with leaders, partners, and other key stakeholders. Team Support: Support other quality engineers in their work, setting standards and fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth within the quality engineering team. Industry Trends & Innovation: Monitor industry trends and emerging technologies, make improvement recommendations to leadership based on new insights. Compliance: Understand and comply with all applicable Company policies and rules.
What you'll Need To Succeed:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a similar technical field.
- 3-5 years of progressive experience in quality engineering focusing on design quality within the electrical industry or a related industry.
- Proficient in APQP methodologies and their application in design.
- Good knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and tolerance stack-up analysis. * Some experience with statistical analysis tools used for quality analysis.
- Good understanding of design validation frameworks, including Design Verification and Validation (DVV).
- Knowledge of product lifecycle management (PLM) systems.
- Commitment to fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the quality function.
- Good organizational and multitasking skills, with demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced working environment.
- Rounded attention to detail with an analytical mindset and excellent problem-solving skills.
- Good interpersonal skills to establish meaningful relationships built on mutual trust and respect, navigate and resolve conflict, moderate behaviors, and foster collaborative working relationships amongst a diverse audience.
- Good communication skills (written, verbal, listening, and presentation). Able to liaise with key stakeholders outside the quality function in technical and non-technical roles and present compelling information to achieve buy-in.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc), including excellent Excel skills and experience using Power BI.
Preferred:
Master's degree in Engineering or a similar technical field. Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) Certification from ASQ,
