Position Summary |
As a unit within the College of Family and Consumer Sciences (
FACS) at the University of Georgia (
UGA), the Student Success and Advising Center (
SSAC) exists to maximize every student's opportunity for success.
The Student Recruitment and Events Coordinator plays a pivotal role in both the strategic planning of college events and in actively recruiting prospective undergraduate students for the College of Family and Consumer Sciences. This position coordinates all logistical aspects of events, including developing detailed plans and run-of-shows, scheduling, vendor management, budget oversight, and coordinating with the Office of Development and Alumni Relations on sponsorship. The Student Recruitment and Events Coordinator also drives innovative event facilitation to maximize engagement and impact, and leads the planning for signature events like the
FACS Convocation.
This individual also serves as the primary contact for prospective students, implementing recruitment strategies such as leveraging alumni networks, visiting high schools and college fairs, leading campus tours, and developing recruitment campaigns. This role involves travel for on- and off-campus recruitment events and co-leading the
FACS Ambassador program. This employee collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful events and a coordinated approach to student recruitment and retention. Additionally, this position develops recruitment presentations, conducts research to inform strategies, and continuously seeks to improve the effectiveness of both event management and recruitment operations. The Student Recruitment and Events Coordinator reports to the Director of the Student Success and Advising Center. |

Event Coordination:
- Develop event plan/run of show, including event approvals and briefings for SSAC Events.
- Manage all event-related tasks including scheduling, event logistics, billing, food/beverage, meeting materials, guest lists, and invitations.
- Coordinates with the Office of Development and Alumni Relations on sponsorship recognition and benefits.
- Develop innovative and creative ways for facilitating events to be most engaging and impactful.
- Compile budget and contract details for events.
- Prepare event briefings and coordination of speakers/presenters' travel and logistics.
- Reviews vendor and procurement contracts as related to events and meetings (e.g., entertainment, facilities, partnerships, suppliers, etc.) MOUs, etc.

FACS Convocation:
- In conjunction with Assistant Dean for Academic Programs and the Director of SSAC, lead FACS Convocation planning committee, which includes securing contract with vendor and for food, developing run of show, communicating with staff regarding needs and assignments for the event, communication with students, processing of monetary award/plaques, processing payments, and serving as co-lead staff on site the day of event.
- Provide event logistic support and coordination of college recruitment events, including securing quotes for venues/food, processing payments and being on site the day of event. Update run of show, briefing materials for Dean and special participants.
- Advise and implement strategic initiatives to streamline and improve FACS signature events and meetings.

Student Recruitment:
- Serve as primary recruitment contact
- Recruit students by utilizing alumni networks and collaborating with the Director of Alumni Relations to create relationships with stakeholders, visiting high schools and college admission events, arranging and leading campus tours, and initiating campaigns to introduce students to attend the college.
- Travel to and coordinate prospective undergraduate student recruitment events on and on off campus; in and out of state, such as, but not limited to, Tabling at Tate, FACS Info Sessions, Group Tours, Individual Visits, Orientation Resource Fairs, Majors Fairs, Family, Career and Community Leaders of America, Georgia Department of Education, Georgia Association of Career and Technical Education, Georgia 4-H, and other settings to recruit students and inform influencers.
- In conjunction with the SSAC Director and Graduate Assistant, co-lead the FACS Ambassador program, which includes student recruitment, development, and student social media presence.
- Collaborate with other departments and/or college and central administration to ensure a coordinated approach to student recruitment and retention.
- Develop presentations for various recruitment events that align.
- Conduct research, designs questionnaires for current or potential students, analyze questionnaire results, and lead focus groups to adjust recruiting strategies and materials.
- Maintain and improve recruiting operations by adhering to policies and procedures, recommending necessary changes, and enhancing quality results through process evaluation, redesign, and implementation.
