General Summary of Position
Assist the Manager, Retirement Plans with the administration of the MedStar Health retirement plans, specializing in non-qualified retirement plans. Review of Plan operations and applications in a non-discriminatory manner to assure compliance with Plan design and IRS regulations.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Stays abreast of and implementing non-qualified plan regulations and best practices
  • Ability to effectively explain complex issues to some of top associates throughout the organization
  • Serves as primary point of contact for non-qualified retirement plans; handles escalations when they arise
  • Analyzes audit reports and is able to identify and resolve complex issues
  • Coordinates and processes QDRO's & POA's related to non-qualified plans
  • Partners with record keeper on various presentations related to non-qualified plan eligibility, enrollment, etc.
  • Ensures the timely reconciliation for bi-weekly contribution funding, as well as annual and semi-annual employer matches
  • Responsible for providing record keeper with data to calculate and fund employer matches
  • Processes monthly and adhoc vendor invoices
  • Assists Retirement Team with annual audit of defined benefit and defined contribution plan audits, as needed
  • Responsible for the exchange of data and day-to-day Plan operations, which requires coordination and communication with plan recordkeeper, Payroll, HRIS and plan participants
  • Responds to various daily participant inquiries (both active and term) from Total Rewards email box and record keeper.
  • Works closely with Manager, Retirement Plans and attorneys regarding both legal and/or procedural compliance issues
  • Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department
    policies, procedures, quality standards and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation
    regulations
  • Must be local and willing to travel to events such as Annual Enrollment, on-site meetings, and any required HR meetings


  • Minimum Qualifications
    Education

    • Bachelor's degree Finance, Human Resources, Business
      Administration or related field
      required

    Experience

    • 3-4 years In retirement plan administration required
    • 3-4 years Experience with 457(b), 457(f) and SERP plans; must have strong working knowledge of defined contribution and defined benefit plans. Strong knowledge of IRS, DOL and ERISA regulations preferred
    • One year of relevant professional-level work experience may be substituted for one year of required education.

    Licenses and Certifications

    • HR certification preferred (SHRM-CP or PHR). preferred

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Proficiency in MS Office software applications, especially Word and Excel
    • Strong analytical and problem resolution skills; Ability to work well under pressure with multiple priorities and deadlines

    This position has a hiring range of $63,793 - $113,318
