Mott MacDonald is seeking a dynamic, highly motivated, and experienced Senior Project Engineer in the CEI industry to join our growing Florida market, most specifically Orlando.
Responsibilities include:
- Directing a highly complex and specialized construction engineering administration and inspection program
- Planning and organizing the work of subordinate and staff members
- Developing and/or reviewing policies, methods, practices, and procedures
- Reviewing programs for conformance with Department standards
- Supports, oversees, and coordinates engineering production activities for an operating unit
- Makes decision and recommendations that are recognized as authoritative
- Evaluate project claims, delays and coordinate timely resolution with client
- Initiates and maintains contact with senior-level management within the company and is skilled in dispute resolution and negotiation of critical issues
- Supervision received is essential administrative with assignments given in terms of broad general objectives and limits
- Directing a highly complex and specialized construction engineering administration and inspection program
- Planning and organizing the work of subordinate and staff members
- Lead continuous staff improvement and training
- Developing and/or reviewing policies, methods, practices, and procedures
- Reviewing programs for conformance with Department Standards
- Under minimal supervision, performs complex duties utilizing advanced techniques and diversified knowledge of engineering principals and methods
- Assumes lead responsibilities for a team of engineers and professional support staff
- Build and maintain relationships with clients in the Florida area
- Lead CEI pursuits and assist in building the local CEI practice with ability to recruit and grow team
- Maintains continued relationship with client after project is finished to assure securing future work the client may have
We invite applications from candidates with the following experience and education:
- A Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related. Civil Engineering degree or degree in related field
- Professional Engineer in Florida, or ability to obtain in 6 months
- 10 years minimum experience in construction management of civil highway and bridge projects
- Preferable experience with FDOT projects
- Ability to build strong relationships within FDOT
- Working knowledge of FDOT construction and administrative procedures and programs
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong command of construction scheduling, proposal development and contractor means and methods for typical roadway construction elements to include, clearing and grubbing, environmental, drainage, piling, drilled shafts, retaining walls, paving and pavement base, bridge construction, concrete, and asphalt, singing and lighting, ITS and tolling
