Nuclear Engineer I or II (Civil/Structural Design) - Brunswick Nuclear Plant "Depending upon the desired qualifications of the successful applicant, the hiring manager may elect to fill this position at a higher level within the job hierarchy." Job Summary This position is for an entry level Civil/Structural Engineer for the Brunswick Nuclear Plant in Southport, NC working in the Design Engineering department. Our department is responsible for the preparation and development of engineering solutions that include risk reduction, equipment obsolescence, and plant modernization.Employees at this level solve problems in engineering areas of specialization with close supervision. Selected candidate is expected to develop new and existing skills and to work with greater independence as time progresses. They have knowledge of fundamental engineering concepts and theories and exhibit sound technical judgment.They will develop engineering specific solutions in support of design change packages for power plant equipment upgrade and design projects, including but not limited to, designing and evaluating component mounting, pipe supports, whip restraints, seismic ruggedness, heat exchanger and pump foundations, reinforced concrete analysis, and other civil/structural related issues. Individual will prepare Engineering Change (EC) packages, calculations, specifications, procedures, and other technical documents. Will also perform independent reviews of engineering products prepared by their peers.Individual will be required to obtain qualifications as a Modification Engineer, Calculation Preparer, and Design Verifier prior to working independently.Selected candidate will act as the lead technical stakeholder and/or responsible engineer for various assigned projects as a member of a larger project team.
