Park Maintenance Worker (Semi Skilled Laborer) (Seasonal) - Cook Forest State Park

As a Park Maintenance Worker (Semi-Skilled Laborer), you will utilize your skills to help maintain our cherished natural resources, ensuring that our parks remain clean, safe, and enjoyable for all visitors. This seasonal position offers a chance to advance your career while working in a beautiful environment.

In this position, you will be responsible for various tasks, including mowing grass and operating a string trimmer, while also assisting skilled workers in constructing wooden structures. Your duties will involve selecting and cutting lumber, nailing sheeting studs, and cleaning used lumber and forms made of wood and metal. Additionally, you will perform manual labor such as digging ditches and trenches by hand, and serve as a helper for large equipment, aiding in maintenance and operational repairs. You will load trucks with materials like sand, gravel, and waste using a hand shovel, as well as clear snow from walkways, hydrants, and drainage areas. Other responsibilities include cleaning culverts, filling washouts, and maintaining cleanliness in restrooms, washhouses, and other park facilities while picking up litter.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• This is a seasonal, full-time position with no healthcare benefits. There is not an option to buy into health care benefits. The season runs from approximately March 2025 until November 2025 at which time the employee will be placed on leave without pay. The employee will automatically be returned to employment approximately March 2026.
• Shifts/days vary. This position will work 5 days/37.5 hours per week to include holidays and weekends.
