Our Water Business Group is seeking a Flood Risk Analysis Section Leader to join our growing team in Northern California. Flood risks analysis is a key business line at HDR, and we expect the work to continue as the need to assess current infrastructure and evaluate the need for future infrastructure is a vital role of our profession. Flood risk analysis involves the integration of hazard information, and its likelihood, with the consequences of that hazard on the exposed property, lives, and environment. We have created a new section to focus on the growing work of flood risks analysis, with specific focus on the hydrologic, hydraulic, consequence, and planning aspects of dams, levees, and other civil works projects.
In the role of Flood Risk Analysis Section Leader, we'll count on you to:
- Take responsibility for operations of production section including staff development, profitability, morale, quality control and marketing support
- Function as Project Manager and take responsibility for production on projects in addition to management responsibilities
- Take administrative responsibility for section staff and technical service functions, and lead and coordinate services with other sections
- Be involved in marketing planning, proposals and interviews
- Work with project teams to identify resource needs on projects
- Be directly involved with industrial and public clients in marketing, project production and related issues
- See that all work is planned, organized, controlled and evaluated through proactive project management system
- Implement, monitor and support company policy
- Select, train, develop and manage technical personnel
- Manage and develop multidiscipline teams
- Work cooperatively with National Directors and marketing staff in local and national marketing and production efforts
- Work cooperatively with other water resources program leaders to get new clients, increase the work from existing clients, and drive existing projects to be completed with high quality
- Work cooperatively with other section leads to manage work loads of staff, and complete administrative responsibilities for the section and staff. This includes implementing, monitoring, and supporting company policies
- Provide leadership, mentorship and administrative support for assigned staff.
- Build technical expertise and production capacity through recruitment and training
- Support issue resolution on projects, within teams, with clients and within the broader organization
- Strategic planning and goal setting
- Promote HDR by involvement in industry organizations and functions including presentations and publications
- Continue to develop and maintain a current understanding of what is going on in the industry.
- Perform other duties as needed
Preferred qualifications:
- MS in engineering in water resources
- Experience with USACE flood and consequence analysis tools such as HEC-FDA, FIA, LifeSim
- Experience working with Federal, state, and local agencies.
- Experience with multi-benefit projects and standardized planning frameworks.
- Experience in technology transfer and technical writing.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- A minimum of 10 years experience
- Professional registration, license or certification may be required based on role
- Strong communication and listening skills
- Ability to handle multiple assignments
- Good leadership and organizational skills

The expected compensation range for this position is $130,977.00 - $212,625.00 annually depending upon skills, experience, education and geographical location.
