Project Controls Specialist

Primary Responsibilities

HDR's Project Controls Specialist will: develop and maintain complex, integrated engineering, procurement, and construction schedules and cost control programs for various phases of infrastructure engineering projects; develop and monitor project metrics; provide daily support to the project controls team, and detailed monitoring and analysis of project costs, and schedules; participate in project coordination meetings and attend and actively participate in the design development meetings to provide value engineering ideas for cost efficient and timely project completion; assess scope of work, interpret drawings and specifications, and apply knowledge of construction materials, labor, equipment and vendor/subcontractor pricing to develop, evaluate, compile, and present scope and cost data for construction and project estimates; prepare and implement procedures for conducting estimates, and establish structures and presentation formats for estimates; prepare comprehensive cost estimate reports, including laboring, market and job condition factors, for various project development stages; take responsibility for completeness and accuracy of estimates within defined parameters; monitor schedule deviations and variances and prepare schedule basis document for corrective action; assist in preparation and negotiation of change orders and additional work; participate in negotiations with contractors as needed; and perform other duties as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • A Master's Degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a closely related field and 3 years' experience in construction management or project controls or a Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a closely related field and 5 years' experience in construction management or project controls.
  • Required experience must include experience in: scheduling and cost estimating for civil infrastructure projects; Primavera P6; On Screen Take-offs; E-Builder; Sage Timberline; Bluebeam; and Procore.
  • NOTE: All HDR positions in the US may be subject to background checks and/or pre-employment drug testing.
