Position Summary
We are seeking a highly qualified, driven, energetic, hands-on Mechanical Engineer to take responsibility for the design solutions that meet our customers' needs. The successful candidate for this position will be able to take a project from the conceptual stage through to completion, including specification, design, documentation, testing, and presenting proposals to managers and clients.
- This is a mechanical engineering position primarily and inherently includes continuous engineering support of all existing products including BOM Creation, Drawing Creation, Documentation Release, Continuous Improvement, Cost Reduction and Innovation.
- The successful candidate should have knowledge of machine design & mechanical power transmission.
- Experience with design of weldments and heavy structural design ideal.
- Must be able to perform and document mechanical calculations, finite element analysis, etc.
- Under the general direction of the Manager, Engineering, perform all required engineering tasks.
- Ensure the use of proper engineering design principles and contribute to reliable and cost effective product.
- The assignments have general objectives and include contact with the customer.
- Directs and coordinates activities involved in fabrication, operation, application, installation, and repair of all products and systems.
Required Skills / Qualifications:
- HS Diploma or equivalent plus 8+years of experience as a mechanical engineer including the design & construction of large electromechanical equipment.
- 8+ years of experience with AutoCAD and SolidWorks
- 8+ years of experience in the custom automation industry
Preferred Skills / Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in either mechanical design, mechanical drafting, or mechanical engineering.
- 5+ years of experience as a mechanical engineer
- Fundamentals of mechanical engineering principles.
- Principles of low cost design and ease of manufacture and assembly.
- Basic analysis of designs, components and subsystems for fit and finish for use, through the proper application of technical theory.
- Use appropriate design techniques.
- Materials properties to identify/select parts tolerance, finish and fitness for use.
- Understand pertinent electrical and/or mechanical design and drafting standards, and drafting practices as applicable.
- Understand pertinent US and European Standards and Codes, as applicable.
- Understand electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic or mechanical schematics or diagrams as needed.
- Basic understanding of manufacturing and assembly practices.
