Location: Providence Medical Center in Kansas City, KS

The ICU Charge Nurse is a vital member of our healthcare team, responsible for the coordination, implementation, and management of nursing care in the ICU. This ICU position involves supervising nursing staff, ensuring high standards of clinical practice, and collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to provide holistic patient care. The Charge Nurse plays a pivotal role in mentoring staff and promoting an environment of continuous learning and improvement.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):

  • Lead and supervise the nursing team during assigned shifts, ensuring compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and standards of care.
  • Coordinate and manage patient care, assessing patient needs, developing care plans, and ensuring timely delivery of quality care.
  • Apply advanced clinical knowledge to solve complex patient care issues and make critical decisions in high-pressure situations.
  • Maintain effective communication with physicians, nurses, patients, and families to support the continuum of care.
  • Participate in performance improvement initiatives and quality assurance processes.
  • Provide mentorship and educational support to nursing staff, fostering professional development and competency.
  • Manage resources effectively, ensuring optimal staffing levels and availability of necessary equipment and supplies.
  • Ensure adherence to all health and safety regulations, including infection control, patient safety, and emergency preparedness protocols.


Qualifications

Before we go any further, we do have some deal-breakers. You must have:
  • Current and valid state RN License.
  • Current BLS (AHA) upon hire and maintain current.
  • Current ACLS (AHA) 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
  • Previous supervisory experience, one to two years, in acute care hospital, ICU/CVICU setting preferred.
  • Minimum of one year staff nurse in an acute care hospital setting; Critical Care setting preferred.
  • CCRN (AACN) within 2 years of hire, preferred.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN), preferred.
