Overview

FNF Construction is hiring for the on-site role of Payroll & Benefits Specialist based out of the Corporate Office located in Tempe, AZ. This position is primarily responsible for the timely processing and proofing of a large, multi-state payroll, while acting as a liaison between remote and local payroll staff to ensure a timely and accurate result each week. In addition, this role is responsible for the day-to-day administration of the company's health & welfare fringe benefit plan and assistance with the coordination of various other in-house benefit programs.

Notes: No relocation will be offered for this position. Local candidates only. This full-time position is considered hourly and is not exempt from FLSA overtime provisions.



Responsibilities

    Process payroll in a timely fashion each week, including any needed follow-up with Field Personnel on payroll related issues.
  1. Act as primary contact for employees regarding any pay or benefit issues, including research and resolution of payroll issues or concerns.
  2. Utilizing the FNF Wage Decisions, this position will code and enter new hires' payroll and time off/leave data into Vista in a timely manner ensuring employees are set-up properly and visible in the Time & Attendance system.
  3. Upkeep of any employee termination information, as it pertains to the payroll module.
  4. Additional back-up for the certified payroll report (CPR) process and requirements for FNF.
  5. Assist the Director with post-payroll data files weekly for 401K, Non-Qualified Deferred Compensation plan, Pension contributions, employee benefits data for UKG, etc. Track and enter withholdings and calculate any missed deductions.
  6. Assist the Director daily by researching all requests for loans and distributions for the pension plan. Provide Auditors with annual recordkeeping and reporting requirements. Assist the Director during the audit process. Assist with carrier portal updates of year-end testing data on pension plan.
  7. Coordinates the monthly Aetna enrollment process for the FNF Health & Welfare arrangement, to include producing both COBRA and Initial Notices. Weekly communication with Contractors Plan Trust regarding same. Assists HR Generalist with any requests for FMLA (Family and Medical Leave) by producing any required or requested notifications for hourly Field personnel not covered under parent-company's FMLA vendor services
  8. Provide accurate pay information to outside parties for VOE's (verifications of employment), City and State requests for pay or employment verifications, etc.
  9. Assists the Director with the child support and unemployment process, as it relates to processing deductions or complying with requests for information, wage audits, etc.
  10. Assists the Director with the garnishment process weekly utilizing current State and Federal guidelines; communicate with law firms or credit agencies as needed/directed.
  11. Process and track employee PRDs (payroll deductions), as needed
  12. Assists the Director with monthly report preparation, as they relate to various intra-company requests for information.
  13. Acts as the primary contact for the automated time & attendance system, as it relates to crew creation/maintenance.
  14. Coordinates time off requests for Corporate Receptionist with Staffing Agency, ensuring seamless coverage of Corporate Front Desk. During Receptionist's absence, this position will oversee the 'end of day' process, ensuring shipping needs for the day are met, building closure process, etc.
  15. Assists the Director with special projects, as needed. Provide back-up to the Director during time-off or absence.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of the general policies and practices of construction/heavy highway companies.
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Extreme attention to detail
  • Excellent problem analysis and resolution skills, ability to think outside the box.
  • General computer and Database management skills, including intermediate to advanced Excel skills
  • Ability to provide technical guidance and training to end users, relative to the payroll process.
  • Current knowledge of applicable state and federal wage and hour laws; to include COBRA and FMLA legislation.
  • Knowledge of automated payroll systems and trends in timekeeping methods.
  • Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of personnel in a diverse work community.
  • Ability to simultaneously manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Top-notch organizing and coordinating skills.
  • Ability to provide consistent and insightful training on payroll and benefit issues
  • Certification in Payroll Administration, example: FPC (Fundamentals of Payroll Certification) through the American Payroll Association. Or the willingness to study and obtain certification within the first 1-2 years of employment
  • CEBS course completion or designation (Certified Employee Benefits Specialist) preferred
  • Some college coursework to include the subjects of human resources and/or accounting would be helpful
  • 2-3 years of experience in roles directly related to or titled as payroll and/or benefits specialist required in a high-volume, fast paced human resource or payroll department.
