Job Summary: The Manager, MOCVD is responsible for collaboratively overseeing the MOCVD area. Managing a staff of technicians, the Manager will be responsible for the production of epitaxial wafers for Masimo devices, as well as custom epitaxial wafers for outside customers. The position will require scheduling, process improvements, SPC, MES implementation, capital equipment needs and staff adjustments to meet requirements. Duties & Responsibilities:
- Manage MOCVD technicians
- Organize and manage weekly MOCVD meetings
- Provide input to and manage work according to production schedules
- Oversee and manage transition from R&D into production
- Ensure that MOCVD is in compliance with all local, state and federal regulations
- Review staffing and make changes as needed for efficient epitaxial production
- Working with staff, identify, purchase and manage equipment installation needed for production
- Support the implementation of SPC into key production areas
- Support implementation and usage of MES for MOCVD production
- Develop and improve manufacturing processes to increase yield and throughput of multiple product lines
- Develop yearly equipment budgets, and personnel requirements
Minimum & Preferred Qualifications and Experience: Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years' experience in III-V MOCVD epitaxy and devices
- Experience in operating and troubleshooting MOCVD reactors
- Experience with MOCVD and facility operations and cleanroom equipment support
- Excellent knowledge/experience with regulatory/environmental requirements
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to effectively interface with executive leadership, employees, customers, suppliers and regulatory agencies
- Experience in an ISO 9001 or equivalent environment
- Experience in similar sized organizational environment
- Experience working with MES
- Able to speak and write English well
Preferred Qualifications: MS degree in Manufacturing/Engineering or related discipline Experience in high volume epitaxial wafer and device manufacturing; Education: Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing/Engineering or related discipline is required. Master's degree preferred.
Physical requirements/Work Environment
This position primarily works in a production laboratory team environment. Some office environment duties required.
- Stand unassisted for prolonged periods of time, an average of 4 hours/day.
- Lift objects up to 50 lbs.
- Climb 8-foot step ladder.
- Handle small, fragile components with precise hand movements.
- Wear and change in and out of cleanroom clothing many times per day.
- Wear Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA), requires medical qualification.
- Wear and change in and out of full bunny suit and wear respirator or SCBA.
- No facial hair that would impede proper operation of a respirator or SCBA
- Hearing corrected to normal level.
- Fluent in spoken and written English.
- Daily use of a computer and other computing and digital devices is required.
- May sit for extended periods when facilitating meetings or conducting office work.
