About the Role

This role is part of the Books Editorial Project Management (BEPM) team that provides operational project management support to manage our titles and books portfolio through the publication process. We're looking to recruit an energetic and highly organized graduate as an Editorial Assistant to support our Research Publishing editorial teams in Medicine & Life Sciences (MLS).

The Editorial Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the Editorial Acquisitions team by ensuring that our authors and editors receive high-quality service, that our books are published to the highest standards, and that we drive our authors' satisfaction and reputation as a market and thought leader while operating highly efficient workflows.

Along with providing core support to the Editorial teams, the role involves building excellent working relationships with internal teams such as production, and day-to-day administration.

Responsibilities

  • Managing editorial processes, including the peer review process for new proposals.

  • Preparing final typescripts for handover to production.

  • Database and systems management.

  • A wide range of administrative tasks, including payment processing.

  • Liaising with authors as well as with colleagues in production and editorial.

  • Liaising with academics during the peer review process.

Experience, Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Previous office experience, including proficiency inMicrosoft OfficeandGoogle Workspace.

  • Experience working in academic publishing or an entry-level editorial role is highly desirable

  • Project management experience is a plus, as this role demands a high level of organizational and time-management skills

  • Strong team collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across departments and with external stakeholders at all levels

  • A diplomatic and assertive communicator, capable of managing relationships with demanding stakeholders professionally

  • Proven ability toprioritize and manage multiple tasks independently, demonstrating initiative and reliability

  • Resourceful and proactivein resolving issues and responding to queries

  • Demonstratedbusiness awarenesswithin the publishing industry and a capacity forquick learning

  • Excellentverbal and written communication skillsin English

  • Comfortable with numbers andIT systems, with akeen eye for detailand accuracy

US Annualized Base Salary: $40,453. The salary offer may vary based on work experience, education, skill level, and equity. The US salary range does not align with the salary ranges in other countries when converted to the currency of that country.
