The Performance Dietitian assists the Performance Nutrition department to develop, implement, and oversee a comprehensive program within UW athletics that aligns with the overall goals and mission of the athletics department.

This position would be responsible to provide individual and group/team
nutrition counseling and education. Other primary responsibilities include conducting nutrition assessments, care planning, education, and counseling, including documenting outcomes of nutrition services/medical charting; assisting in the coordination of team meals for assigned teams for both at home and travel competitions; assist with the procurement, selection, and delivery of food/dietary supplements; serve as the primary food and nutrition resource for assigned teams and associated support staff. This position would report directly to the Director of Performance Nutrition.

Key Job Responsibilities:
  • Evaluates nutritional needs and treatment readiness and develops, coordinates, and disseminates treatment plans for patients and their families in collaboration with medical professionals and other partners
  • Recommends referrals, schedules logistics, and secures resources for patients to receive medical care or various program assistance
  • Completes reports related to nutritional treatment, patient planning, and/or medical care according to established policies and procedures
  • Participates in or conducts dietary research as needed to advance practices and principles
  • Teaches patients and support systems about proper nutrition and helps develop strategies to cope with nutritional needs and problems

Responsible for inventory management of store rooms and warehouse(s), ordering, and procurement of nutrition products and dietary supplements

  • Develops and schedules operational work plans and may provide expertise and training and guidance to staff, the community, peers, and/or students

Compensation:

The starting salary for the position is $56,112 (but is negotiable based on experience and qualifications)

Required Qualifications:

Registred Dietitian required.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Board Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD) or eligible is preferred.
- 2 years of experience working in sports nutrition at the collegiate, tactical, or professional level is preferred.

Education:

Bachelor's Degree in nutrition or related field is required. Master's Degree is preferred.
