Department:Primary Care and Women's Clinic Director

https://health.uark.edu/ Summary of Job Duties:As staff psychiatrist, the psychiatrist will be based in the Primary Care Clinic at the Pat Walker Health Center serving a diverse population of students, faculty and staff of the University of Arkansas.

Duties include diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic mental health issues on-site and through telemedicine. Other duties include education and instruction in mental health matters for individual patients including preventative care/screening. The staff psychiatrist will collaborate with medical, nursing, and lab staff. Other responsibilities will include participation in quality improvement processes and professional development.

Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others. Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • At least two years of practice in a mental health care setting

Applicable equivalencies may be considered for the above qualifications.

  • Board certification (American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology)

  • Physician licensure in the state of Arkansas

  • Active DEA license

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a college health setting or with a college population

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities (KSAs):

  • Ability to obtain medical history, evaluate, diagnose and treat each patient requesting care

  • Ability to provide sufficient information to allow each patient to make an informed consent

  • Ability to recommend diagnostic testing and/or specialty referrals

  • Proficient knowledge of electronic medical record use/documentation

  • Ability to provide patient health education in both the acute treatment of disease and preventative care
