The Information Security Officer (ISO) is a senior technical role responsible for managing the security posture of enterprise IT infrastructure and operations. This position ensures compliance with relevant cybersecurity standards and implements best practices to protect mission-critical systems supporting global operations and national security objectives. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in risk management, vulnerability assessments, policy enforcement, and familiarity with federal or industry cybersecurity frameworks such as NIST.

Information Security Manager Responsibilities Include:

  • Serve as the principal advisor on cybersecurity matters for the INL Air Wing enterprise.
  • Ensure compliance with U.S. Government Information Assurance (IA) standards, including NIST Certification and Accreditation (C&A) processes.
  • Implement and maintain vulnerability management programs and tools across remote and international operations.
  • Develop, review, and enforce IT security policies, procedures, and best practices aligned with mission needs.
  • Identify and assess risks, recommend mitigation strategies, and ensure implementation of secure solutions.
  • Collaborate with IT operations staff to ensure secure configuration and management of systems, networks, databases, and applications.
  • Lead efforts in incident detection, response coordination, and forensic analysis if required.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation of system security plans, risk assessments, and security controls.
  • Provide input on IT project planning to ensure security requirements are integrated from design through deployment.
  • Communicate effectively with leadership, staff, and stakeholders on security policies, risks, incidents, and mitigation strategies.
  • Conduct internal audits and coordinate external assessments to ensure compliance with applicable security requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall cybersecurity posture and mission assurance.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Information Security Manager Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems Management, Computer Security, or related technical field.
  • Certifications (Required):
    • A current and valid industry-recognized Information System Security certification (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CISA, Security+).
    • Experience:
    • Minimum 10 years of experience in the implementation and development of multilevel security systems and enterprise cybersecurity frameworks.
    • Demonstrated experience with federal IT/IA policies, risk management, and security architecture.
  • Knowledge & Competencies:
    • In-depth understanding of vulnerability management processes and tools.
    • Expert knowledge of NIST C&A procedures and federal cybersecurity standards.
    • Proficient in a wide range of IT security principles, products, services, and technologies including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, secure storage, and encryption protocols.
    • Capable of assessing risk and vulnerabilities in complex, globally dispersed IT environments and recommending effective mitigations.
    • Solid foundation in project management methodologies and life cycle planning.
  • Skills:
    • Exceptional communication skills in English (written and oral).
    • Ability to coordinate across technical and non-technical personnel and geographically dispersed teams.
    • Strong attention to detail, organization, and analytical thinking.
    • Adaptability to evolving threat environments and mission-critical operational demands.
