Position Summary

The Assistant Branch Manager II coordinates and manages production and operations in conjunction with the Branch Manager II of a high-volume branch. Leads and actively promotes a sales and service culture and is responsible for ensuring branch and service goals are achieved. Assists the Branch Manager II in hiring employees, onboarding, and training. Builds rapport with members and the community.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties



  1. Achieves branch sales, operations, and member service goals.
  2. Assumes the duties of Branch Manager II in their absence. May serve as Branch Manager II in other branches during absences.
  3. Ensures compliance with Launch Credit Union policies and procedures and completion of all daily work.
  4. Assists branch employees with complex transactions, balancing issues, and difficult member situations.
  5. Supports HR policies and guidelines as established in the employee handbook. Upholds behaviors expected per Launch's Core Values.
  6. Assists the Branch Manager II with identifying employee training and development needs and participates in the coaching and training process. Provides branch manager II with feedback on the employee's performance. Mentors branch employees to improve cross sales and referrals.
  7. Assists the Branch Manager II in developing and administering employee performance expectations. Assists with coaching employees when progressive corrective action is necessary and ensures that appropriate documentation is prepared and retained.
  8. Responsible for branch adherence to audit/compliance requirements and enforces procedures. Ensures compliance with credit union policies, laws and regulations set forth by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) and other regulatory agencies.
  9. Coordinates/monitors workflows and prepares staffing schedules.
  10. Responsible for routine spot checks of loan and member service documents. Administers operational controls to minimize risk for the credit union by performing surprise cash audits and branch operational audits.


Other Responsibilities and Duties



  1. Reviews and tests security procedures/equipment and keep employees up-to-date and trained in such procedures.
  2. Assists with opening and closing the branch.
  3. Acts as communication liaison between the other departments within the credit union to ensure efficient operations and quality service to the membership.
  4. Responsible for daily vault management, including ordering cash and compliance with branch cash limits. Facilitates buys and sells to the vault.
  5. Participates in community events to enhance new and existing member relationships and opportunities.
  6. Oversees branch tracking and adherence to Member Services Representative Performance Standards.
  7. Perform Members Services Representative duties as needed.
  8. Follows all Launch Credit Union policies and procedures.
  9. Completes assigned compliance training in a timely manner. Assists Branch Manager II with ensuring staff have completed required compliance training on time.
  10. Attends meetings and training sessions as required. Some travel may be required.
  11. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education, Experience, and Skills Required



  1. A high school education or GED and a minimum of five years' related experience, preferably in a financial institution; one year assistant manager experience.
  2. Minimum of four years of experience in identifying member/customer needs and offeringtechnical and sophisticated products in a production driven environment subject to individual performance, referral and/or production goal.
  3. Have or able to obtain an NMLS (Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System & Registry) license.
  4. Excellent interpersonal skills, including displaying courtesy, tact, and diplomacy during personal contact with others inside and/or outside of the organization for purposes of giving or obtaining information, building relationships, or soliciting cooperation.
  5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  6. Demonstrated ability to build rapport and establish trust and confidence with members/customers.
  7. Very strong mathematical skills and accurate cash handling skills.
  8. Must be proficient with the use of computers with a demonstrated ability to quickly learn software applications, multiple programs, and systems.
  9. Must be knowledgeable or have a demonstrated ability to quickly learn the credit union products, services, policies, and procedures, including digital services.
  10. Demonstrated ability to learn and understand how to read a credit report.
  11. Must be knowledgeable or have demonstrated the ability to quickly learn and understand the applicable regulations for the position (i.e., Reg B, D, Z, CC, BSA, TISA, etc.).
  12. Detail oriented, organized, able to work under pressure, and able to adapt to change.
