Department OverviewThe US Federal Governments Markets Division is chartered with being the premier, compliant supplier of world-class communications solutions to the U.S. Federal Government by providing the highest quality products, systems and services. The Federal Engineering team of the USFGMD is responsible for service supporting a charter of implementing and integrating complex systems sold worldwide to the US Federal Government. As an Air Force Program ASTRO Engineer you will be exposed to a wide variety of communications requirements in both the Presale and Post Sale phases of a project. These applications span the entire breadth of the US Federal Government throughout the world. Job Description

The US Air Force LMR today is a robust, ultra-complex deployment of disjointed, multi-zone ASTRO systems on different system releases and using varying technologies. The Air Force has requested that all systems be merged together into a unified, global enterprise.The Air Force Program ASTRO Engineer will work closely with other engineers to execute on technical efforts to achieve the Air Force's communications goals. The ASTRO Engineer will work on a daily basis on developing a strategy to accomplish the various migrations. The ASTRO Engineer will be hands-on, in-field executing on the integrations, migrations and expansion plans they have developed. The Air Force Engineering team will also serve as a point of escalation for daily sustainment activities.

Extensive knowledge of ASTRO technical deployments, including: Advanced networking, Cyber Security principles, Active Directory Administration, ASTRO applications (UNC, PM, UEM), ESXi, HBSS and PKI

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in LMR or equivalent.

  • Strong preference for experience in developing and executing ASTRO upgrades.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in developing, deploying, and troubleshooting IP networks.

  • Solid ability to administer and troubleshoot in an IT environment.

  • Experience with firewalls and security-related applications.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and G-Suite applications.

  • 5+ years in IT, networking, technician, field service, system technician/specialist, radio frequency, or land mobile radio roles.

  • 2+ years of hands-on experience with Motorola ASTRO technology, including Zone Core, ASTRO Networking, Microsoft Active Directory, McAfee security suite, MCC7500 dispatch, and NICE Logging.

  • Experience with Host Based Security Systems (HBSS).

  • Experience with CAC/PIV authentication-based systems.

Key Skills and Attributes:

  • Demonstrated ability to balance multiple concurrent responsibilities of varying priorities, maintaining productivity and work quality.

  • Extensive verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong self-management skills and interpersonal skills for collaboration with Motorola Solutions' customers and subcontractor (MSS) community, as well as Motorola Solutions Sales, Engineering, Project Management, and Customer Service teams.

  • Strong organizational skills and a high attention to detail.

  • Ability to provide on-site and remote troubleshooting for Air Force systems.

  • Ability to assist Field Service Teams (FSTs) in system troubleshooting and routine maintenance.

Preferred Certifications and Education:

  • CompTIA Network+, MCSE, CISSP, Bachelor's Degree in an Information Technology (IT) or Engineering field.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Must be a U.S. citizen with ability to obtain necessary DoD Secret Level security clearance as required by government contract(s)

  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely is required. Employer work permit sponsorship is not available for this position.

  • Must be capable of obtaining a secret clearance within 18 months of initial employment date

  • Required to lift equipment of ~ 50lbs

  • Required to complete standard form SF86 questionnaire for national security positions

Travel/Location:

  • Travel, of up to 50% at times, will be required. Frequency of travel dependent on location.

Target Base Salary Range: $100,000 - $115000 USD

  • Must be a U.S. citizen with ability to obtain necessary security clearance as required by government contract(s)
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely is required. Employer work permit sponsorship is not available for this position.
