Job Description

The Construction Manager provides the onsite leadership, coordination, and direction for construction management activities. Duties include ensuring the project is on budget, schedule, and the design fits the requirements for the contract. May supervise field administrative staff, Field/Project Engineers and/or assistant Construction Managers. This position will support construction related to water and wastewater infrastructure including transmission pipelines; pump stations; storage; and water/wastewater treatment systems. The candidate will have project and construction management experience and/or expertise in water and wastewater conveyance systems; Reclaimed/Recycled water transmission, distribution and storage and Water storage facilities.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

As a Construction Manager and on behalf of a client, the candidate will manage and administer all aspects of a successful water and wastewater project, which may include:

    Strong knowledge of contracts, drawings, estimates, and specifications to ensure compliance with project requirements
  • Providing professional services as client representative to ensure that projects are constructed on schedule, on budget and in accordance with project contract documents.
  • Responsible as onsite liaison with contractor and oversight of progress of construction; Implement schedule, cost, quality, communication, decision-making, use tools and processes for multiple projects
  • Coordinates, directs, and monitors activities of contractors/subcontractors, engineers, architects, and related performing entities
  • Conducts project meetings and provides meeting minutes, documentation, administration, and tracking of relevant information
  • Ensures contractors, architects, and engineers will adhere to contractual requirements on areas of safety, performance, project staff, and equipment
  • Provides management of project logistics, organization and safety; ensures project closeout to obtain guarantees, warranties, and related provisions for turnover to the owner
  • Assisting in the constructability review of water and/or wastewater project plans and specifications including evaluation and detailed design of treatment plants, pump plants, water reuse systems, distribution systems, conveyance, storage, and pipeline projects.
  • Duties shall include, but not limited to coordinating and administering compliance, and processing requests for information, submittals, invoices, billing, grant requirements, change orders, schedules, estimates and work plans through project completion and commissioning.
  • Work with local and state regulatory agencies for project permitting, etc.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or equivalent is required
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience as a Construction Manager supervising staff and working on water and/or wastewater treatment facilities, pump stations, storage facilities, and conveyance pipelines is required
  • Construction Management experience on projects valued at $15M and greater
  • Strong communication, technical writing and time-management skills are required.
  • Construction Management experience working on water and/or wastewater treatment facilities, pump stations, storage facilities, and conveyance pipelines
  • Shall have the ability to work proactively in a high-paced environment and willingness to adjust and respond effectively to change
  • Strong computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite products, and experience with project control related systems such as Prolog and Primavera.
  • Proficient and experience in various project delivery methods is preferred
  • Local experience within California preferred
  • Professional Engineer (or successful completion of Engineer-in-Training examination) is preferred
  • CMAA - Construction Manager in Training (CMIT) or Certified Construction Manager (CCM) is preferred
  • Professional Engineer (PE) is preferred

Offered rate of compensation will be based on a variety of non-discriminatory factors, including education, qualifications, experience, and geographic location. The Salary range for this position is $135,000.00-$150,000.00 .
