Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Electric Motor Winder / Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of hands-on experience rewinding electric motors, along with a strong background in motor disassembly, inspection (DCI), and electrical testing. This role requires a deep understanding of electric motor construction and the ability to fabricate coils, perform precision winding, and use test equipment such as megohmmeters and surge testers.
Key Responsibilities:
* Disassemble, inspect, and document findings on electric motors (DCI process) * Rewind AC three-phase electric motors of various frame sizes and configurations * Wind and insert coils including insulation and taping * Fabricate coils in-house using manual and semi-automatic methods * Perform electrical testing including:
o Megohm (insulation resistance) testing o Surge comparison testing o Core loss testing (preferred but not required) * Interpret motor data sheets, winding schematics, and connection diagrams * Operate ovens, burn-off tanks, VPI (vacuum pressure impregnation) systems, and other winding equipment * Follow all safety protocols and quality control procedures * Assist in training technicians when needed
Qualifications:
* Minimum 3 years of experience rewinding electric motors * Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail * Demonstrated ability to perform DCI and document inspection results clearly * Proficiency with standard testing equipment (megger, surge tester, etc.) * Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, nameplates, and winding data * Familiarity with VPI processes is a plus * Basic computer skills for data entry and work order documentation * Must be able to lift 50+ lbs and work in a physically active environment
Preferred Experience (Not Required):
* Rewinding DC motors or form coil windings * Operating VPI tank systems
