SUMMARY:

The Senior Staff Accountant applies principles of cost accounting and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles to perform monthly accounting duties and reports, prepare financial statements and weekly/monthly financial reports, support income tax preparation, and perform analysis involving actual financial results.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITES



  1. Performs duties associated with monthly project accounting, including coordination and participation in project review meetings, understanding of key project issues that may result in financial impact to the company, and ensuring project financial plans are accurate estimates of expected performance.
  2. Assists with implementation and optimization of accounting software, systems, processes and reports.
  3. Prepares, coordinates and reviews entries to the general ledger involving revenue, project cost, project losses, or balance sheet accounting including inventory and work in process and allowance for doubtful accounts.
  4. Prepares, reviews, and maintains general ledger structure and accounts.
  5. Assists with preparation of financial statements and weekly/monthly management reports for internal reporting and external reporting.
  6. Researches and develops recommendations for proper treatment of accounting issues for review and completion.
  7. Prepares monthly balance sheet reconciliations with proper supporting documentation, identify, and resolve reconciliation issues in a timely manner.
  8. Completes information requests and forms to support and comply with government or contractual requirements regarding taxes, required information, and supporting data.
  9. Researches and recommends accounting procedures to achieve process improvement supporting the quality and compliant financial reporting.
  10. Prepares ad hoc analysis of metrics and actual financial results as requested.
  11. Assists with finance system administration and support functionality of other administration systems.
  12. Assist and mentor other accounting and administration staff members.
  13. Assists in audits and reviews with preparation of related schedules and supporting documentation.
  14. Performs other duties as assigned.



SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position has no supervisory responsibilities. This position may provide day-to-day direction to more junior administration personnel.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

Bachelor's degree (B.A.) in accounting or a related field. Equivalent experience may be substituted for up to two years education.

EXPERIENCE

A minimum of four years experience in GAAP accounting standards including financial reporting, financial preparation, monthly closing, and resolving complex accounting issues.

Advanced user of Microsoft Excel.

Preferred experience with cost accounting systems and processes.

Preferred experience with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR).

Salary Range: 70K - 90K annual
