The New York City Department of Investigation (DOI) is one of the oldest law enforcement agencies in the country with a mission of combating municipal corruption. It serves the people of New York City by acting as an independent and nonpartisan watchdog for New York City government, City agencies, and City employees, vendors with City contracts, individuals and entities that receive City funds.

The information Technology Unit of the NYC Department of Investigation is looking for an IT Business Analyst the candidate will serve as a critical liaison between business units and IT, combining strong technical understanding with business acumen to ensure seamless delivery of IT services and solutions. This role is responsible for analyzing business needs, supporting IT operations, managing vendor relationships, and ensuring the effective functioning of IT infrastructure and support services.

Job Description:

. Act as the primary interface between IT and business units to capture, analyze, and communicate technology requirements.

. Consolidate and evaluate IT-related requests across departments, aligning them with strategic IT goals and operational capabilities.

. Possess strong end-to-end business analysis skills

. Develop comprehensive documentation including business requirements, use cases, and functional specifications.

. Engage with vendors and partners to explore and evaluate solutions tailored to specific business and technical demands.

. Provide on-site support for A/V equipment, computers, and laptops in multiple locations including conference rooms and training rooms.

. Assist in setting up and maintaining A/V configurations for meetings, training sessions, and presentations.

. Deliver hands-on support for end-users, ensuring a reliable and professional technology experience across facilities.

. Serve as the first point of contact for technical assistance via phone, email, and in-person support.

. Manage daily ticket queues and IT support email inboxes, ensuring quick resolution and high user satisfaction.

. Prioritize ticket assignments, provide follow-up to users, and maintain a customer-focused support environment.

. Maintain up-to-date records of all IT assets, including laptops, tablets, and mobile devices.

. Track and document asset details such as user assignment, serial numbers, product specs, and software licenses.

. Conduct periodic inventory checks, reconcile discrepancies, and manage logistics for pickups, deliveries, and surplus items.

. Prepare and submit IT Purchase Requests (IPRs) and collaborate with procurement on purchasing, receiving, and payment processes.

. Support technical teams in assessing upgrade requirements and coordinating procurement activities.

. Maintain software license renewals and updates in the IT unit's license tracking system.

. Set up and configure desk phones and telecom systems for new employees and user upgrades.

. Manage IT telecom documentation and maintain related inventory systems.

. Support mobile device life cycle activities: enrolling in MDM, user profile configuration, troubleshooting, upgrades, and decommissioning.

. Provide regular status updates to IT leadership on ticket resolution, asset management, and project progress.

. Maintain detailed records to support audit readiness, compliance efforts, and IT documentation standards.

. Develop QA documentation and support quality assurance processes for IT services and solutions.

. Apply strong problem-solving skills to quickly identify, prioritize, and resolve mission-critical production issues.

. Manage special projects and other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Qualification Requirements
1. High school graduation or equivalent and three years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to duties described above; or
2. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" above.

. Ability to exercise discretion in all activities, high level of flexibility, reliability and dependability.
- Strong initiative, attention to detail, sense of urgency, work ethic and follow-through skills necessary.
- Effective communication, customer relations and interpersonal skills experience working with all levels of the organization, and ability to interact with Mid-level and Senior Executives.
. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage time and multiple priorities to completion.
. Valid Driver's License (Driving between sites may be required)
. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with strong emphasis on Excel for data management and analysis.
. Demonstrated experience with asset and/or inventory tracking systems.
. Skilled in document management and maintaining organized filing systems.
. Ability to self-manage time and workload.
Residency Requirement

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for two continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County. To determine if the residency requirement applies to you, please discuss with the agency representative at the time of the interview.
