Summary:

The Lead position has oversite of daily functional requirements for surgery scheduling and charge entry. The Lead must have in depth knowledge of the health system and has the ability to schedule all services offered by the health system without any support from leadership. Maintains the ability to schedule appropriately, keeping location instructions, patient demographics and insurance requirements in mind without any training or coaching by leadership. Accuracy level and customer service scores must be consistently >90% with the understanding that should their scores dip, an action plan up to and including demotion may occur. The employee must adhere to all employee codes of conduct to ensure their actions are consistent with the mission of CHRISTUS. This position follows departmental productivity and quality control measures as set forth by management.

Responsibilities:


  • Maintains strong communication with surgeon's and office staff.
  • Assists staff in the completion and processing of admissions.
  • Reviews the status of all unverified and unbilled accounts in order to assure timely and accurate patient billing.
  • Orientate employees as appropriate.
  • Functions as a full working member of the staff.
  • Responsible for keeping accurate records of procedure scheduling, patient charges, patient demographics and insurance data.
  • Assisting with problem identification or analysis as concerns any aspect of scheduling, charge entry and admission.
  • Develop, implement and evaluate office processes to maximize efficiency, enhance communication, foster quality patient care, reduce costs and speed payment for service.
  • Participates in Performance Improvement activities as appropriate.
  • Reports scheduling issues or patient concerns to RN Leads and/or Clinical Director
  • Adheres and supports CHRISTUS Health philosophy, policies and procedures.
  • Assumes responsibility for own personal and professional growth and development. Complies with Joint Commission & Accreditation of Hospital Organizations (JCAHO) and other Regulations--Adheres to federal and state regulatory rules.
  • Follows the CHRISTUS guidelines related to the Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), designed to prevent or detect unauthorized disclosures of protected health information (PHI).
  • Associate timely completes all required educational assignments.

Requirements:

Education/Skills


  • High school diploma preferred; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Thirty-five (35) wpm typing preferred along with the following leadership skills: team building, ability to conduct employee education, redesigns, and have effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Requires thorough knowledge of computer skills and applications with emphasis on Microsoft and working knowledge of Meditech, working knowledge of a copier and fax machine preferred.

Experience


  • In lieu of Bachelor's Degree, a minimum of three (3) years of directly related experience.
  • Working knowledge of insurance requirements, authorizations and basic coverage.
