Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. (NYSE:APD), a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases and chemicals, is seeking an experienced Assistant Area Maintenance Manager based in the North Region working from your Residence.

This job will support the Industrial Gas Customer Engineering North Region Area Maintenance Managers. Support includes the training and management of Customer Stations field technicians, the maintenance and safe, reliable operation of customer installations, implementing field safety programs and maintaining maintenance budgets. You will be responsible for ensuring consistent application of Global Engineering Standards, Equipment Support Team procedures, and maintenance of best practices and work processes.

The systems that the role is responsible for maintaining include most product lines such as LOX, LIN, LAR, LHY, CO2, CO, BHY and BHE. Extensive knowledge of cryogenic tanks, high pressure tubes, vaporization systems, cryogenic pumps, compressors, PSA's and membrane systems is required. A heavy maintenance and operations background is preferred.

You should possess good communication, interpersonal, troubleshooting and management skills. Communication will be via phone, e-mail and face to face with the Customer, the Equipment Support Team, Field and Allentown Engineering, Logistics, Sales and many other organizations. Various computer skills are needed to analyze problems and manage the business in an efficient manner. These include SAP, LearnEx, Vantage, DOLv3, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and other programs. You must be a self-starter with a solid work history and the ability to work in a team-oriented environment.

Required Skills / Abilities:

* Lead by example with regards to following procedures and the highest priority of maintaining personnel safety

* Possess strong leadership skills to drive both internal and external teams to their highest performance

* Knowledge and experience of preventative maintenance systems (e.g., SAP), planning, and cost management.

*Familiarity with basic office software (MS Office suite, Zoom) and ability to learn internal software databases.

* Understand and use blueprints, piping and instrumentation drawings, single-lines electrical drawings, ladder logic, and wiring schematics.

Accountabilities:

  • Assist in the management of all maintenance and/or construction activities within the region.
  • Actively participate in the safety programs, promote and enforce safety rules and good housekeeping.
  • Maximizes the efficiency, productivity and capability of the maintenance/construction work force in the North Region.
  • Train, develop and empower our technicians, via face-to-face visits as well as over the phone.
  • Identify systematic opportunities for improvements in safety, operation and maintenance of our systems.
  • Identify root causes of equipment/machinery failures and help develop appropriate repair solutions to reduce reoccurrence or eliminate the cause of failure.
  • Ensure the implementation of sound preventative/predictive/and integrity maintenance programs that reduces unplanned shutdowns and ultimately enhance overall customer satisfaction and profitability.
  • Implement best practices, change management, and standardization of maintenance systems and work processes across the region
  • Evaluate personnel performance levels and provide feedback to technicians.
  • Promote an atmosphere of team spirit through good examples, open communication, good listening, and timely problem resolutions.
  • Help achieve compliance with all procedures, standards, specifications, and codes, federal and statutory requirements.

Minimum Hiring Requirements:

  • A technical degree associated with process plant maintenance or equivalent years of experience in maintenance of process facilities
  • 10 years of relevant experience
  • Must be able to climb ladders and steps, to wear appropriate PPE, physically perform all tasks in the field, and maintain a clean driving record.

The job consists of about 25% travel and will be located in the North Region at a location to serve present and future business needs.
