What to Expect
The Sr. Regulatory Engineer will be responsible for energy and charging product deployment and industry development activities regarding the governing codes, standards and regulations. The role primarily provides coverage of electrical safety codes and standards impacting the execution of energy and charging products. This function includes leading and supporting cross-functional initiatives from Compliance, Engineering, Policy, and Operations to ensure streamlined approvals across North America and to a lesser extent internationally. It is the Sr. Regulatory Engineer's primary responsibility to support the team's core codes and standards development activities through research, white papers, and active participation in electrical safety related stakeholder committees such as UL 1741, UL 9540, UL 9741, UL 3141, UL 2202, UL 2594, UL 3202, NFPA 70, and NEMA. Other initiatives focus on approval support related to jurisdictional requirements, and how our products adhere to the appropriate electrical safety standards.

What You'll Do
  • Lead electrical safety standards development activities applicable to our products
  • Ensure proposed changes to the standards remove any barriers to product innovation while maintaining a high bar for safety
  • Manage internal communications regarding expected changes, their impact, and determinations for how to improve and/or mitigate any potential risks caused by product regulations
  • Join external groups and committees to support codes and standards develop activities
  • Support product and project engineering with electrical safety standards expertise and design-for-compliance activities
  • Develop technical white papers supporting product compliance and deployment
  • Provide technical expertise in support of the policy team regulatory initiatives
  • Participate in technical documentation change control and maintenance activities for compliance related documents
  • Support internal and external teams with jurisdictional approval escalations hindering product installation

What You'll Bring
  • Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar involving electrical & renewable and/or energy storage focus, or equivalent experience
  • 5-7 years of work experience in project engineering, code and standards development activities, and/or jurisdictional approval processes
  • Understanding of electrical safety regulations such as NFPA 70, UL 1741, UL 9540, UL 9741 UL 3141, UL 2202, UL 2594, UL 3202, and their development/application
  • Technical understanding of PV, Energy Storage System, and EV Charging technologies
  • Advanced and concise technical writing skills
  • Strong communication skills to interact with standards development groups and other industry members
  • Able to organize time and tasks in a fast-paced environment, strong project management and analytical skills
  • Ability to frequently travel

    Expected Compensation
    $88,000 - $186,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

    Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
