The Waste Projects and Operations team ensures safe and compliant base operations for Hanford's central waste facilities, provides waste generator services to End States and Operations, and manages the waste program, systems and tools for waste treatment, storage and disposal services in a safe, compliant, efficient and cost-effective manner.

A day in the life of a Waste Projects Activity Manager includes, but is not limited to:

* Providing support to Waste Projects and Operations (WP&O) projects and matrixed staff, subcontracted personnel, along with coordinating across CPCCo and Other Hanford Contractor (OHC) organizations in support of the Transuranic (TRU) Waste project completing milestones and committed goals.
* Assist in developing baseline schedule and budget along with support development of task orders. Maintaining status and monitoring schedule health while working to identify and resolve resource and scheduling conflicts before they arise. Prioritizing project tasks and ensure resource and subcontracts are in place to support scheduled activities.
* Developing Statements of Work (SOW), Requests for Proposals (RFP) and support documents and participate in the management of bidding, evaluation and award process. After award, managing all aspects of contract administration including in the role of the Buyer Technical Representative (BTR).
* Help organize and coordinate the setup and use of a variety of Nondestructive Assay (NDA) equipment including In-Situ Object Counting System (ISOCS) and Sodium Iodide (NaI) detectors.
* Work with TRU Program and Waste Projects to identify and prioritize waste containers that need NDA.
* Performing NDA technical and programmatic oversight, NDA data quantification and qualification reviews, and periodic NDA quality assurance validation.
* Coordinate the review of NDA reports verifying historical and technical information is available, peer review is completed, and independent review is scheduled to ensure comments are resolved.
* Providing planning assistance for NDA capabilities required for the Waste Projects & Operations TRU program.
* Coordinate Independent Performance Assessments when requested or as required.
* Work with vendors as needed to repair, replace, or procure essential measurement equipment.
* Periodic reviews of software quality assurance and statistical process control to ensure radioassay equipment and analysis remains within acceptable boundaries.
* Comply with RCRA and CERCLA applicable to solid waste management.
* Overseeing and championing work package development critical to supporting project field activities. In addition to work package development, identify and initiate procurement of materials and equipment necessary in supporting of these same field activities.


Basic Qualifications


* Intermediate Grade 18: Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience plus 6 or more years of relevant experience
* Intermediate Grade 19: Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience plus 7 or more years of relevant experience
* Career Grade 20: Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience plus 8 or more years of relevant experience

The higher posted level has greater scope, complexity, authority, impact. The level offered to the selected candidate will be based on the needs of the company and the candidate's education, training, and/or experience.


Desired Qualifications


* Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Nuclear Engineering, Physics, Health Physics, or related engineering or technical discipline.
* 4 years' experience directly involving the management of TRU Waste
* Certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP) or similar project management discipline.
* Experience serving as a Buyer's Technical Representative (BTR) and proficient in Department of Energy (DOE) Procurement processes
* Prior experience with NDA equipment.
* Experience with In-Situ Object Counting System (ISOCS) measurements
* Knowledgeable user of Microshield and RadCalc.
* Familiar with DOE Order O 435.1, implementing procedures, and Hanford Site Solid Waste Acceptance Criteria HNF-EP-0063 for characterizing Low-Level and TRU Waste.


Compensation & Benefits


In accordance with the CPCCo salary determination process, CPCCo takes into consideration the level of assigned job duties and responsibilities, and the candidate's education, training, and/or experience relative to internal peers and the external labor market. CPCCo will not solicit salary history for candidates.

Expected annualized pay range based on full time schedule (40 hours per week):

Intermediate Level Grade 18: $92,700 - $148,550
Intermediate Level Grade 19: $101,950 - $163,050
Career Level Grade 20: $112,250 - $179,500

In addition to base pay, employees may be eligible for variable pay awards.
