Position Description
The purpose of this position is to support the Minneapolis Police Department (MPD) Training Division by ensuring accurate documentation, record-keeping, and data entry related to all training activities. This includes maintaining records in the LEFTA Shield Suite system, fulfilling training records requests from internal and external groups, assisting with reports and audits (such as MN POST Board requirements), and supporting both In-Service and Pre-Service training documentation processes.
Salary: The anticipated salary range for this position is $30.03/hr - $36.51/hr, depending on qualifications.
Work Location: This position is onsite only.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
Enter current and historical training courses and supporting materials into the LEFTA Shield Suite system.
Ensure all supporting documentation is complete and attached to each course.
Create and verify course sign-in sheets and attendee lists.
Submit course rosters to the MN POST Board for credit.
Enter certificates of completion for course attendees.
Assist instructors with administering exams in LEFTA Shield Suite.
Respond to training records requests from internal and external departments.
Support annual, special, and audit-related report preparation.
Maintain and manage an audit tracking system using Excel or Smartsheet.
Revise and improve tools and processes for the Training Division.
Assist with classroom setup and general instructor support.
Scan and organize police department-related files.
Conduct research using police databases and records systems.
Perform special projects as assigned by MPD personnel.
Ensure accuracy and completeness of all training records.
Manage multiple tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Regular indoor office environment.
Required Qualifications
MINIMUM EDUCATION: Associate's degree in Public Administration, Business, or related field.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE Two years of related experience.
EQUIVALENCY An equivalent combination of education and highly related experience in a similar environment may be considered.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS: Must be able to obtain State of MN Notary Certification within 6 months of hire. Must be able to obtain Records certifications as needed.
SELECTION PROCESS The selection process will consist of a rating of relevant education and experience (100%). It is important that your application show all the relevant education and experience you possess. This information will be used to determine which candidates will proceed in the selection process. A submitted application is also used to verify the answers to any supplemental questions. Only those candidates who attain a passing score (70%) on each step in the selection process will be placed on the eligible list. The City of Minneapolis Human Resources Department reserves the right to limit the number in any phase of the selection process.
BACKGROUND CHECK The City has determined that a thorough Minneapolis Police Department criminal background check is necessary for positions with this job title. Applicants must sign an informed consent allowing the City to obtain their criminal history information in connection with the position sought. Applicants who do not sign the informed consent form will not be considered for the position.
DRUG AND ALCOHOL TESTING All job applicants must pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test once a conditional offer of employment has been made. Applicants will be required to sign a notification and consent form prior to undergoing drug and alcohol testing. Applicants who do not consent to undergo drug and alcohol testing will not be required to do so and the City will withdraw the conditional job offer, resulting in the job applicant no longer being considered for the position.
ELIGIBLE LIST STATEMENT The names of applicants who meet minimum qualifications and who pass the screening process shall be placed on the eligible list for employment consideration. This list will be certified to the hiring manager who may use the list to fill a vacancy of the same job title. This eligible list will expire three months after it has been established.
INTERVIEW SELECTION The hiring authority reserves the right to determine the maximum number of candidates to interview from the established eligible list. If the hiring authority decides to interview other than by exam score order, they may select additional people to interview based on a candidate's education or experience related to the field, work history, or skills uniquely related to the operational needs of the position.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint).
Experience using Smartsheet, Canva, COMET, PATROL Online, and RISE 360.
Understanding of POST Board standards and public data/privacy laws.
At least 2 years of experience supporting multiple teams and managing projects.
Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
Ability to manage time and resources in high-stress, high-volume environments.
Strong relationship-building and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to work with diverse individuals and adapt to different communication styles.
Accurate data entry and typing skills.
Technical writing experience.
Experience in quality assurance and meticulous record keeping.

Law enforcement or court experience (preferred but not required).
