As a law clerk/legal intern in an in-house counsel role,you will provide legal support to a company's legal department, assisting with research, document preparation and case management. You will play a crucial role in streamlining legal processes and ensuring the smooth operation of the legal team.

What you'll do:

The Law Clerk will be a member of the Legal Division and assist the Company's legal team with any of the subject areas in the WHQ Legal Division.

  • Conduct thorough legal research on various topics, including case law, statutes, and regulations, to support legal advice and decision-making.
  • Perform and/or assist with hands-on legal projects that may include legal and factual research and writing.
  • Assist with the drafting and preparation of legal documents.
  • Consult, assist, and coordinate with in-house legal team on all aspects of case management including:
    • prompt communication and coordination of legal matters within the U.S. and Canada and help ensure timely, accurate and constructive legal support to our business partners;
    • enter new cases into Legal Tracker and ensure that outside counsel has the billing system (Legal Tracker) matter number;
    • create and maintain legal holds for cases;
    • general document management support specifically related to legal issues including ensuring proper storage of electronic files;
    • investigate and draft responses to Subpoenas, small claims litigations and legal inquires;
    • conduct case assessments;
    • gathering and compiling case materials;
    • discovery responses support (including updates and timely response to deadlines);
    • draft correspondence and other litigation documents;
    • coordinate and/or participate in client/witness interviews for relevant case information; and
    • act as a liaison between in-house counsel, outside counsel and internal company employees.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate reporting requirements.
  • Review and analyze contracts, identifying potential risks and ensuring compliance with company policies.
  • Assist with preparation and review of NDA and similar agreements.
  • May draft explanatory notes for business teams about new laws and regulations.
  • Assist with the creation of internal presentations and reports for review by senior management.
  • Provide general support for the legal division by assisting with other legal, compliance, RIM and privacy related tasks.
  • Ability to analyze legal issues and develop effective solutions
  • Special projects and other duties as requested.
  • Perform data entry and any administrative support as needed.

What we're looking for:

  • Bachelors' degree in Business Administration, Political Science, Criminal Justice, English, Finance, etc. or equivalent from an accredited university or college.
  • Currently attending law school.
  • 0-5 years' experience working in a legal environment, preferably at a global public company and/or law firm.
  • Ability to work 10-15 hours a week remotely or on-site at our Parsippany, NJ world headquarters.

  • Contribute positively to the organization, both individually and as part of a team.
  • Understanding of legal research methodologies.
  • A sense of professional work ethic.
  • Unquestioned discretion handling confidential information.
  • Must be solution-focused.
  • Advanced MS Excel and intermediate Word and PowerPoint skills.

The annual starting salary for this position is between $25.00 - $28.00 hourly. Factors that may affect starting pay within this range include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
