What to Expect
The Hardware Product Manager will be part of our energy engineering teams that are responsible for delivering end to end products and services to support Tesla Energy and Charging. In this role you will be responsible for the end-to-end success of hardware products in the commercial charging portfolio. In this role, you will shape the product roadmap, define customer-centric solutions, manage stakeholder expectations and oversee the successful launch of charging hardware products. You will drive a broad range of evolving initiatives, constantly chasing the ideal customer experience across a range of use cases. The ideal candidate combines deep hardware expertise, firmware/software fluency, and the ability to understand customer and market desires. What You'll Do
- Identify underlying customer problems and create detailed (hardware, firmware, software and UX) product requirements in collaboration with engineering to ensure everything from installation to daily user experiences is incredibly intuitive
- Develop compelling product presentations and drive cross-functional alignment across execs and stakeholders
- Establish hardware and software product success metrics and track performance against goals
- Conduct market and competitive analysis, benchmarking specs, pricing, and manufacturing approaches
- Synthesize customer feedback to validate requirements, focusing on reliability, performance, and ease of use
- Assess technical feasibility and costs with engineering teams
- Develop and execute pilot plans, analyzing results to refine hardware, firmware, and software
- Ensure product compliance with certifications (e.g., UL, IEC) and policy, and deliver technical collateral (e.g., datasheets, manuals)
- Manage feature handoffs, training, and launch events, presenting OK2Ship recommendations to leadership
- Drive successful commercialization of charging products by ensuring high quality of product launches, working closely with cross-functional teams across the engineering and commercial organizations
What You'll Bring
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of product management launching hardware products; EV Charging experience a major plus
- Strong knowledge of hardware development lifecycles, including software and firmware integration
- Excellent communication and documentation skills for engaging executives, engineering teams, and users
- Knowledge of renewable energy policies and regulations (e.g. product safety and compliance) is highly desired
- Ability to execute many projects and tasks in parallel, across many teams, in a short timeframe, with demonstrated ability to pivot rapidly
- Self-starter with a collaborative mindset

Expected Compensation
$128,000 - $228,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
