POSITION SPECIFICS

The Pennsylvania Technical Assistance Program (PennTAP) is seeking an experienced Marketing Communications Specialist to develop and execute strategic marketing and communications plans including strategy, branding, marketing and communications support for PennTAP and related programming.

This position will be filled at the Advanced Professional or the Senior Professional level based on the successful candidate's qualifications.

The role necessitates project management of all marketing and communications activities targeting both internal and external audiences that advance the goals of the program. The specialist will have direct responsibility for partnering with Invent Penn State and other resources to develop digital and physical marketing assets, and traditional, digital and social media content.

Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Develop and execute overall marketing strategy that helps achieve the organization's goals.
  • Collaborate with various subject matter experts and stakeholders to develop marketing strategy by assessing needs, establishing timelines for completion, and identifying desired outcomes.
  • Employ a variety of marketing, communications, and public relations strategies that may include direct mail, advertising, web, news media, special events, and other methods that meet defined goals and objectives and align with overall university goals and policies.
  • Set goals and implement tracking to monitor campaigns for effectiveness and make recommendations based on data and trends; monitor trends and benchmark marketing efforts and best practices.
  • Create, manage and implement strategic communications for PennTAP through: email marketing strategy, design, and engaging content creation, social medial strategy including organic content creation and paid social media advertising, creating and maintaining PennTAP website including new functionality, content updates, style and layout, and accessibility.
  • Create compelling collateral for PennTAP to promote programs, events and offerings with an emphasis on successful story telling.
  • Identify, create, and update standard operating procedures for the unit; make recommendations for changes to policy.
  • Assist with the creation of technical reports, charts, and graphs to meet funding deliverables.
  • Collaborate with the Invent Penn State team to align messaging and coordinate campaigns. Ensure adherence to brand and visual identity guidelines across all mediums. Handle all communications between PennTAP Director and external vendors.
  • Monitor social media and email marketing from resource partners, funders, university entities and clients to ensure coordination, benchmarking and collaboration opportunities are identified and acted upon.
  • Ensure compliance with accessibility standards, contractual obligations, confidentiality and privacy policies, and style and standard guidelines.

A portion of this position will be devoted to developing and fostering relationships with communications contacts across the university (colleges, campuses, and units) and external to the university (industry publications and economic development partners) to foster collaboration.

Skills and Experience:

  • Excellent written and oral communication
  • Experience working in multiple media platforms
  • Strong initiative, self-motivation, and high standards of excellence
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently to achieve goals as well as working with team members to lead broad-based initiatives
  • Graphic design using Adobe Suite is a plus

MINIMUM EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS

If filled as Marketing and Communications Specialist - Senior Professional, this position requires: Bachelor's Degree 6+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted Required Certifications: None If filled as Marketing and Communications Specialist - Advanced Professional, this position requires: Bachelor's Degree 3+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted Required Certifications: None

SALARY & BENEFITS

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades, is $51,000.00 - $89,600.00.
