Position Summary: This position is responsible for the management of the Global Design Team and the design engineering function within the Global Design Team as well as the management of the Design Engineering colleagues and the operational performance of the team. This role is charged with the direct supervision of the Design team colleagues including but not limited to colleague development, performance, and recruitment. This role is also tasked with designing engineering processes and standards and with the operational success of the design team.

Job Responsibilities:














1. Supervise colleagues in a manner that maintains morale, skills proficiency, and productivity. Recruit and hire team members as required in conjunction with the HR Department. Managerial responsibilities include but are not limited to mentoring, coaching, and developing colleagues; planning, assigning, and directing work; performance management.



2. Supporting the growth and well-being of the design team through onboarding, training, and fostering a positive and productive work environment



3. Establish and implement design engineering policies, standards, and procedures for the scope of design engineering functions.



4. Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate the activities and operations of a design department.



5. Conduct periodic Team Meetings to ensure understanding and adherence to design engineering practices, standards, and processes.



6. Implementing and evolving design systems, including component libraries, style guides, and documentation, to ensure consistency and efficiency across projects.



7. Conduct Professional One on One meetings with direct reports as well as periodic Team Meetings to ensure a strong, collaborative team environment.



8. Responsible for the development and maintenance of design quality and standards. When necessary, reviews design deliverables for quality and standard adherence



9. Evaluating, selecting, implementing, and managing design tools and technologies to enhance the team's capabilities and workflows.



10. Provides design or drawing training and assistance for projects during the development and as-built stages of the engineered drawings.



11. Ensures compliance with all Convergint project design, documentation, and submittal standards. Ensures adherence to industry standards and codes as required. Supports and maintains Convergint design standards



12. Overseeing the allocation and management of design resources, including personnel, tools, budget, and vendors, ensuring they are used effectively



13. When necessary, participate in internal design review meetings as coordinated by the Project Managers. Participates in project turnover meetings with both sales and project team.



14. Manage all design engineering projects - utilizes financial systems to review actual vs. estimated job cost and to provide timely and accurate project cost reports



15. Facilitating design reviews and feedback sessions



16. Identifying and resolving operational roadblocks and inefficiencies



17. Plan, organize, and track design projects, ensuring they stay on schedule, within budget, and meet quality standards and with positive cash return.



18. Accountable for the communication of design progress, committed completion dates, design scope revisions, and associated costs to the Project Managers. Discuss all anticipated overtime requirements with the Project Managers



19. Defining and tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) for design operations



20. Coordinating with stakeholders to align design efforts with business goals



21. Performs other duties and responsibilities as requested or required.

  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written.
  • Experience with AutoCAD


  • Excellent Microsoft Outlook, Project, Excel, Word, and Power Point skills



Education Requirements:



  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field or equivalent experience



Experience Requirements:



  • Minimum of 7 years experience in Electronic / Physical Security Design Engineering
  • Minimum 5 years experience in the supervision and management of design engineering teams



Certifications & Licenses:



  • Industry-specific certifications and/or licenses required; must have valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
