Position Description:
As a Senior Building Controls Technician, you will be a go-to expert for ensuring the smooth operation of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems across a diverse mix of new, and aging buildings You'll be responsible for:
Primary Responsibilities
- Prioritize and take appropriate actions on all BAS alarms. Examples of critical system alarms are alarms associated with; Bio Safety Level-3 exhaust and room pressures, IT data center cooling systems, lab exhaust, and animal housing environment.
- Incumbents regularly work on tasks which are varied and complex, requiring considerable discretion and independent judgment.
- Assists in validation of complete system functionality and troubleshoots problems with subcontractors and other trades to ensure proper operation.
- Assists in the loading and commissioning of all system and network-level controllers as required.
- Other duties related to the installing, commissioning, and servicing of building controls and facilities management systems and energy management systems, as assigned.
- Advise of potential difficulties or deficiencies of mechanical systems or utilities.
- Recommend HVAC and BAS design improvements.
- Diagnoses and repairs complex control systems malfunctions requiring extensive knowledge of a variety of electronic or digital controls systems and ability to test
- Perform maintenance and precise calibration of pneumatic and direct digital control devices on multiple complex building control systems. Included but not limited to, Digital System Controllers, Application Specific Controllers, Programmable Logic Controls.
- Make minor software and/or hardware adjustments to the BAS as required to keep system functioning efficiently and within design parameters. Modify control system schematics and ladder logic diagrams as needed.
- Perform routine BAS offline, override, and alarm status reports, as directed by the supervisor. Modify BAS trend log feature as required to pinpoint system deficiencies.
- Conduct an on-going self-study to maintain a high technical proficiency as related to the maintenance and troubleshooting of MCW's critical building systems.
- Recommend HVAC and BAS design improvements.
- Ensure energy saving initiatives are engaged, especially during off-hour shifts. Back-up the Maintenance Mechanics and perform preventative maintenance or repairs on multiple building systems.

Knowledge of safety practices, emergency procedures, operations and maintenance, risk management, planning and evaluation.
Task management, coordination, and problem solving, investigation, restraint and self-defense skills.
Qualifications
Minimum Required Education: Associate's degree
Minimum Required Experience: 7 years Prior HVAC Experience
Preferred Certification/Licensure(s): Electrical, Piping, or Building Automation Systems.
