Continuation past the termlengthdiscussed willbebasedonuniversityneed,performance,and/oravailabilityoffunding.POSITION SPECIFICS Job description: aphasia post The Sathian Lab at the Penn State College of Medicine, Department of Neurology, Hershey, PA, is looking for a highly motivated non-tenure line Researcher to work on language processing studies and, in particular, on novel rehabilitation approaches to aphasia. The Sathian lab employs both behavioral and neuroimaging (functional magnetic resonance imaging: fMRI) methods to investigate iconicity in spoken language - the idea that the sound of a word may convey its meaning - in both neurotypical people and people with aphasia. The successful candidate will have a PhD in a relevant field and 5 years of post-doctoral experience in sensory and language processing, statistical analyses, MATLAB, and fMRI analyses using SPM (including the ability to implement multivariate methods). Since experience in working with patients with aphasia is critical, they must also have certification in Supported Conversation for Adults with Aphasia, obtained via the practicum run by the Aphasia Institute (ON, Canada). The successful candidate will also have strong written and oral communication skills, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Responsibilities will include:
