The laboratory is currently supported by the American Heart Association (24TPA1290435) and the National, Heart, Lung and Blood Institute (1R01HL167788) to understand the biological and biobehavioral (e.g., sleep) mechanisms underlying early life stress-related cardiovascular disease risk. This position will be funded by R01HL167788 and there will also be opportunity to apply for individual fellowship support (e.g., T32, F32, AHA Postdoctoral Fellowship). In support of these endeavors, there are ample opportunities to develop complementary lines of research in psychosocial stress, lifestyle behaviors such as sleep and exercise/physical activity, vascular physiology, and cardiometabolic health in various populations in a highly collaborative environment, which will be strongly encouraged. There are extensive opportunities to collaborate with co-investigators and co-mentors across the University including the Abboud Cardiovascular Research Center, Fraternal Order of Eagles Diabetes Center, Iowa Neuroscience Institute, Environmental Health Sciences Research Center, and Iowa Biomedical Imaging Institute. Excellent clinical research and core labs in the Carver College of Medicine are available to conduct high-impact translational research Responsibilities: The candidate will be responsible for contributing to clinical research studies examining the mechanistic contribution of sleep disruption to impaired vascular function among young adults with high early life psychosocial stress exposure. Additional opportunities are available to develop complementary lines of research in areas that include (but may not be limited to) psychosocial stress, lifestyle behaviors such as sleep and exercise/physical activity, vascular physiology, and cardiometabolic health in various populations in a highly collaborative environment.
