What you'll do:

Working inthe Product Experience Design Team, the UX Principal will be responsible for the following primary duties:

Strategic Design Leadership

  • Define and drive a holistic UX and service design vision that aligns with business goals, educational outcomes, and platform strategy.
  • Lead the evolution of our design practice, embedding service design thinking across the product lifecycle and organizational touchpoints.
  • Translate complex educational and technical challenges into coherent, scalable design strategies.

Team Leadership & Mentorship

  • Inspire, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of UX and service designers.
  • Foster a culture of experimentation, inclusivity, and continuous learning.
  • Champion design excellence through critique, coaching, and community-building.

Research & Insight-Driven Design

  • Oversee generative and evaluative research to uncover user needs, behaviors, and systemic pain points.
  • Leverage mixed-methods research to inform design decisions and measure experience outcomes.
  • Advocate for inclusive design practices that reflect the diversity of learners and educators.

Design Execution & Governance

  • Ensure design quality and coherence across all products and services through robust design systems and governance, ensuring seamless service delivery and learner engagement
  • Review and guide the creation of wireframes, prototypes, and service artifacts to ensure clarity, usability, and accessibility.
  • Establish and evolve design standards and best practices tailored to the EdTech domain.

Stakeholder Engagement & Influence

  • Partner with product, engineering, learning science, and business stakeholders to co-create solutions and align on priorities.
  • Communicate design strategy and rationale effectively to executive leadership and cross-functional teams.
  • Influence roadmaps and investment decisions through compelling storytelling and evidence-based design.

Driving Innovation & Continuous Improvement

  • Stay ahead of trends in education, technology, and design to drive innovation and differentiation in the market.
  • Create feedback loops and mechanisms for continuous service improvement based on user and stakeholder input.
  • Lead initiatives that explore emerging technologies (e.g., AI, adaptive learning) to enhance educational experiences.

What you'll need:

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Design, HCI, Service Design, or related fields.
  • 10+ years of experience in UX and service design, with at least 3 years in a principal or strategic leadership role.
  • Deep experience working in Agile environments and cross-functional teams.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Mastery of user-centered and service design methodologies
  • Strong skills in stakeholder management, workshop facilitation, including planning, coordinating, and moderating discussions.
  • Expertise in facilitation, co-creation, and stakeholder alignment.
  • Proficiency in design and prototyping tools (e.g., Figma, Miro, Adobe CC).
  • Experience managing and mentoring team members
  • Proven track record designing complex, multi-touchpoint services-preferably in EdTech, SaaS, or learning platforms.
  • Proficient in both quantitative and qualitative research methods to inform design decisions.

Salary Range:

  • $135 - 145,000
