The Department of Pathology and Cell Biology at Columbia University is seeking a Director of Surgical Pathology at the Associate Professor or Professor level. Board certification in Anatomic Pathology is a requirements for this position. Teaching and communication skills are essential. Applicants must hold an MD, DO, or MD/PhD degree and be able to obtain a NYS medical license.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Provide expert diagnostic services in surgical pathology.
  • Oversee and manage laboratory operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Lead and mentor faculty, trainees while contributing to education through teaching of residents, and fellows.
  • Collaborate with clinical teams to support patient care and multidisciplinary initiatives.

Minimum Education Qualifications:



  • MD, DO or MD/PhD (or equivalent medical degree).


Other Qualifications:



  • Board certification in Anatomic Pathology (AP) (American Board of Pathology).
  • Eligibility for medical licensure in the State of New York.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and a collaborative approach to multidisciplinary care.
  • Demonstrated academic excellence and a strong record of scholarly productivity in research.
