We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Research Coordinator within the NYU Grossman School of Medicines Ronald O. Perelman Department of Emergency Medicines Research Division. This Research Coordinator will support a new study, Preventing Overdose in Supportive Housing: Stepped Wedge Randomized Controlled Trial of a Multi-Sector, Upstream Intervention, funded by the National Institutes of Health (PI: Dr. Kelly Doran). Permanent supportive housing (PSH) is the gold standard intervention for ending chronic homelessness and has expanded rapidly across the U.S. Due to a confluence of individual and environmental risk factors, PSH tenants face heightened risk for overdose (OD). This study will evaluate the impact of a technical assistance intervention in permanent supportive housing environments, defined as subsidized housing with voluntary support services, to reduce tenant overdose risk and improve tenant health more broadly. The project begins with a preparatory phase, using key stakeholder focus groups to develop a technical assistance intervention for supportive housing agencies. Next, a stepped wedge trial of the intervention will be conducted with 24 agencies. The multisector investigator team will work with a Stakeholder Advisory Board. The project will be conducted in partnership with the Corporation for Supportive Housing, a national organization that advances solutions to improve PSH through education, practice, and policy, and the National Harm Reduction Coalition, a national organization that advocates and serves as an ally for people who use drugs.
