Position Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated individual for a full-time Research Assistant position in the Translational Research Lab (TRL) in the Department of Cardiology at Boston Children's Hospital. We are an interdisciplinary translational research team developing new treatment for critical care medicine including injectable oxygen, novel gas therapies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform material synthesis and fabrication, as well as biological assays as instructed.
  • Perform small animal surgical procedures to evaluate the safety and efficacy of new therapeutics under the supervision of PIs.
  • Take part in large animal research technician, including basic large animal husbandry, pre-surgical planning, instrument preparation, assisting intra-operative procedures and post-operative management.
  • Shared lab upkeeping responsibilities, including maintaining inventory of supplies and medicine, assisting onboarding of new staff, attending monthly lab support and safety meetings.

Minimum Qualifications
Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Biomedical Engineering or related fields

Experience:

  • Prior research experience in a wet lab including materials synthesis, formulation, and fabrication is preferred
  • Highly motivated for problem solving
  • Must be comfortable working and handling common lab animals including but not limited to mice, rats, rabbits and swine.
  • Ability to work both independently and as a team member.
  • The ability to accurately carry out protocols with an emphasis on attention to details, and good record keeping.
  • Open-mindedness, good communicational, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness and curiosity to learn new skills and unfamiliar techniques
