Sr Advisor for Public Health Science & Policy

The primary purpose of this temp casual position (14 hour or less per week) is to provide research and technical support across one or more project objectives related to the roadmaps vaccine initiative, chronic wasting disease, and other proposals of interest, depending on the applicant's experience and background. Primary tasks include: analyzing, and compiling from a variety of sources, reviewing material / documentation & providing high level comments, and assisting in content and proposal development.

This is a 14-hour or less per week position.

Position Responsibilities
* Provide review and guidance and guidance on diverse CIDRAP initiatives
* Monitor infectious diseases developments and trends
* Provide input into program budgets and proposals, in partnership with finance team
* Assist in process of writing grants and developing proposals
* Assist the Director in workforce management, development, and oversight
* Represent CIDRAP as assigned on University, College, and/or community committees, task forces, advisory councils, or planning committees
* Assume other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
* An MD, DVM, or PhD in epidemiology or related field
* Masters in Public Health or related field.
* At least 25 years of practical, hands-on experience in epidemiologic research in an academic setting or in public health practice at the state, national, or international level.
* In-depth understanding of public health principles and practice and the public health system in the United States at the federal, state, and local levels.
* Strong analytic research skills, including conducting background research using scientific journals and web-based resources
* A working understanding of infectious diseases and related topics of major public health importance, such as COVID-19, influenza, antimicrobial resistance, and priority pathogens with epidemic potential.
* Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and thoroughness
* Ability to work effectively under time constraints
* Strong written and oral communications skills
* Ability to be a self-starter and work independently

Pay Range: $200-$250/hour; depending on education/qualifications/experience.
